This is a hyper-turbo freeroll satellite with 1st place get a $22 EPT live ticket. Usually i don't play hyper-turbo because it's not my type of tournament, i think it's to much luck involved into it, but yesterday i decided to try it.

Since you start with 10 BB do you guys think that my call here is ok?

I plugged the hand into ICMizer putting the program in Chip-EV mode, since it was apparently a winner take all event. And in that situation any pair 33 or higher is an overcall for Hero. Interestingly AX hands are not favoured as calling hands here, presumably because they are to often dominated by one or both opponents. So 33, 54s and K6s is a call, but A9s and ATo is a fold. Not sure how many people would get that right in real time, but 88 is for sure a solid call.

Normally I am not digging an overcall with 88 against multiple opponents since you will be going against an overpair or at least 3 overcards often. However, with 5 BBs and a tournament where everything is moving fast you need to really loosen up so 88 is more than enough to go with here. No way of knowing if villains are playing properly or not but if they are they should must looser than you would expect given that it is a turbo which just makes 88 that much more of a call.

So shortstacked 88 is a monster hand even against a push and a call ahead.
