This was a freeroll tournament for everyone knocked out of a live quarter final tournament. There was no cash prize, top 10 got a seat at the national redtooth poker finals.

Preflop: I didn't want to give the villain an easy look at the flop, perhaps should have raised more.
Flop: C-bet 50% of pot with what I thought could be the best hand.
Turn:Hit the top pair, decent kicker, I double barrel 70% of pot.
Villain reraises and I shove all in.

I think I should have folded to his raise. I showed strength 3 times in a row and he called the first two times and raised the final time, indicating that he thought he was even stronger.
I haven't been playing for long and I'd be interested to see how other people would have played it and if there were any big mistakes in my game.

I surmise that blinds are 100/200? When he limps pre flop he can have medium pocket pair. So I'm not sure if the top pair and decent kicker is the best hand here. But it is freeroll, opponent also could hit top pair with worse kicker. I don't think so that opponent has AQ+, because he should raise it pre flop. Probably I also play it for the rest of my stack but on the small blind he can have many hands, because it is classic blinds war.

if not bluffing, he could have had Ax, or a pair like (nines, threes or fours) so he hit the flop and made a set, or he could be slowrolling (aces) which is unlikely but possible being the fact that everybody folded to him and you were the last to play, and the last possibility is Ax with X a 3, 4 or 9 so again ahead in this hand, other option is that in freerolls people play very loose so he could have had an ace with a poor kicker and felt ok to put all his chips in risk with such a poor hand
