Hi guys
The situation:
Live MTT with 6 people at the table (the seventh player was sitting out)
Blinds 500/1000
My stack 15500 chips so 15 bb's and an M of 10. There is a loose big stack to my left.
UTG I get pocket tens. I raise 2.5 bb. The loose big stack calls.
Flop: A rag rag
I push all in for 13000. He thinks for a good while and calls with AQ and I am out.
Was an UTG preflop shove mandatory here?
As played was a c bet for say 3500 a viable option? If I get called what do I do on most turns? The guy was gonna barrel every single turn behind a check.
If I check fold the turn im left with 9BB which to me is not acceptable.
Was this a mandatory preflop shove?
Thanks

Shoving pre makes it a hell of a lot easier, especially as people love to peel raises pre live whatever the stack sizes are and there are going to be a ton of overs.

As played, I might check fold or check call a small bet if he seems weak, but normally I wouldn't see a flop with chips behind :)

Tx for the reply pascal...it's those difficult marginal situations that make the difference in tourneys, I love getting in those and learning from them, but because of how loose the guy was I was planning on shoving pretty much any flop. Even though I feel I should have shoved preflop.

Shove all day preflop as said ^^ makes it a whole lot easier. Put the pressure on villians.
