reads: frenzykid has been very aggressive and maybe slightly tilting... and with as aggro as he's been, i don't view his open limp as a big hand, but i haven't seen him open limp at all yet. taborcarn seems painfully average, i'm not worried about his limp at all.

whats your move?

How likely do you think it will be that they fold if you raise ~4BBs? There's a case for checking and playing almost for set value here as you really don't want to play a raised pot OOP with 88.

If villains limp-fold a lot preflop, obviously raise and expect to take it down there and then.

4x BB raise here. Take the money and run until you catch better hand.

The problems start with hands like this when you get a caller. The likely-hood if hiiting a set is low, your out of position on the flop, and have to fire out a contintation bet regardless. Making this a potentially dangerious and expensive hand. Having said that, raise 4xbb and procede with caution on the flop.

I agree - a 4x raise is asking both players to commit 25% and 40% of their stacks respectively. If you steal, great-- mission accomplished. If not, and the flop doesn't hit then be prepared to duck.

I pushed, for the reasons that Dorkus stated above. I didn't wanna play a big pot OOP with 8/8, but on the same token, I didnt wanna lay down the best hand or have to check-fold to overs on the flop. I also thought my fold equity was huge here. What are your thoughts DM?
