What type of sh*t is ACR trying to pull!?

Does the kick apply in this situation? If you say it does i'm never playing again! LOL! I chatted the villain and that was his reply and i'm like, "NO....NO we both have Aces and Jacks so a kicker does not apply here. He never responded after that. I'm like, "I got to investigate this" and I logged off. So what are your thoughts? Please look carefully at the image attached too.

Hero Hand A6

Villian Hand A9

Table A, 6, 4, J,J

Please, tell me I'm right and that his kicker didn't mean sh*t.

Best 5 cards wins A, A, J, J, 9. The kicker plays. Your sixes were counterfeited by the Jacks

In NLH you always use 5 cards to determine the winning hand. So as cracker say, his 9 kicker does indeed play on A, 6, 4, J, J. On a board like A, 6, T, J, J it would have been a split pot, since you would both have A, A, J, J, T.

You can ask yourself in these situations what are my 5 cards to make the hand. In this hand its A, A, J, J, 6. Then think what’s the villains best possible hand: A, A, J, J, 9. Now do you have a same hand? If you have, the pot is split, if not the player with best kicker wins the pot.

This is the main reason we should be cautious when attempting to play the "weak ace" hands, because your weak kicker can often come into play like it did in this hand, blind-siding you and "robbing you" of the pot.

The hand you describe happens quite often in holdem, usually you are all-in on the flop, your opponent calls, and the board pairs to counterfeit your two pair hand. Unlucky, but it happens... the way to best avoid this is be aware your ace isn't as strong as you think it is when the kicker is a low card.

Hello.

Unfortunately, it does. It appears that you fell across that bad luck hand. On ignition Casino, chance of one of 9 having an ace is 83%. Same reference, for 2 people having an ace, 12%.

Like others have said, having a low kicker is a gamble anyway. You became a victim of "The Curse of The Low Ace Kicker!". Man, shoot, crap, aw shucks!

Keep on a kicking though. Best of luck.

Yup unfortunately for you the kicker does apply there.

Always think of it at the best 5 cards. You both had Aces and Jacks, which is 4 cards, but with the rest of the cards on the board lower than his 9, the 9 plays as his 5th card. If the board had been A,6,K,J,J or something instead, then his 9 wouldn't have played and the pot would have split.

You both have Aces and Jacks. Then what? A fifth highest card come into play. In your case that is 9. And that is the kicker and hero loses.

Ed miller does a great job at fleshing out this concept in his book small stakes limit hold em I think its in a section called finding hidden outs . really good stuff and very eye opening if you think the situations through to their obvious conclusion. I'd bet you play all your aces and open pairs better after studying it.
