the guy who won the main pot was short stacked 650 chips. He took a chance - I will sometimes do this with less than big hands when I am being offered 3:1 when holding A8+

Having said all this, I would have folded 650 represents 22 bb left or an M of about 15. Remember though, a lot of people are not this technical - these are the ones that give us money time after time.

It's hard to do, but try to remember how many times you've chipped up against similar hands.

You see these kind of calls often but you don't remember them when your big hand holds up. Unfortunately big hands don't always hold up.

He puts both other players on pairs lower than AA. His A8 has about 30% chance to triple up. In a freeroll, his 650 chips don't leave him any place to maneuver while tripling up would put him back in the game. Very good play by bvbstlorenz in my opinion. Also, that's why I don't play freerolls...

At risk of sounding flippant... I agree with Jilly: it's a freeroll. Everybody's hand requirements go south, people happily shove with garbage and concepts like "table image" are non-existant.

You got your money in with the best hand, can't ask for better than that.

I think you should have posted this in the Poker General forum......Sound like a rant to me! LOL. It;s a freeroll, how can you not expect this kind of play??!!

Well, it's more like, umm, online poker.

First hand, level II, FREEroll.

Second hand, level IV, see (FREE) above.

LUCKrolls, BINGOrolls, LOTTOrolls, FREErolls - all same/same.

FREErolls are NOT serious poker. Maybe it is for some of us, but not for the masses. Better luck next time.

Hand 1 - seen this type of play before - it's pretty standard at this level - doesn't make it correct of course.

Hand 2 - I guess he thought you were bullying him and didn't have an ace otherwise it is pretty wild on his part.
