Very well played; I like the turn check. There are few draws out there, and it's probable we're either up against a smaller pair like 7s or 8s, or are against a set or two pair. By checking we induce action on the river from those smaller pairs, smaller aces or even air, and we save chippies vs the hands that beat us.

The check also keeps the pot small, which is what we want with only TPTK 3-handed to the flop. wp.

Same deal; we're either up against a jack or maybe a smaller pair, and betting will only give money to the jacks and scare off worse hands. Kings will still call, but I think we're better off just checking the turn here. Even if he's drawing (QT), although we never want to give free cards, we can actually actually give a free river here since he's only drawing to 4 outs. QT probably woulnd't call a turn bet too, and by checking we can maybe get a stack if we spike an ace.

Well playing it fast worked out for you, and I don't blame you. I don't mind a smooth call and then ch-push either, but pushing's fine considering the stack sizes. This reminds me of another set hand I played; I wasn't sure to push or smooth call because there was a draw out there and I was facing a minraise. Very similar; I think you played it fine though.

Very good fold, and not just because you would have lost. A 6BB pfr is usually either a weaker ace/pair that doesn't exactly want to see a flop, or it's a big hand like above. Along with the smooth call and his 4-bet push, I think folding's our only option here, though I know I personally probably gamble and go broke because I have no discipline

Being OOP I think I check this the majority of the time. In order to isolate or take the pot down, we need to raise 250+, and being OOP with a bloated pot and a marginal drawing hand doesn't exactly appeal to me.

I don't like this as much. Raising limpers is fine sometimes, but players in tourneys are willing to go broke with all types of shit. With nothing but big stacks behind you (including the limper), this could get very costly.

Regarding stealing, I much prefer to do it as an opening raise rather than raising a limper or a few or whatever. If I'm raising limpers, I want to make sure I either have an actual hand, or a hand that has lots of potential, like JTs.

A little big, but I like it. If they're limping with 22-77, they're going to have a hard time calling this, and the same goes for SCs and weak aces. Still, a little too much (probably way too much) risk for so little reward.

Loosely paraphrasing from some author (prob Harrington or Doyley), "good players don't risk their entire stack unless they need to". That changes for small-M play, but here we have a healthy enough stack to raise a smaller amount like 1200 and have a very similar, if not the same effect as a push. With like 3K I prefer a push, but too much risk here after thinking about it.

Definitely not the time to be limping. Just fold here. I don't think effective stacks are deep enough here to be limping with hands like this. You're basically playing for 2pair, flushes or trips with this hand, and you'll rarely hit any of them.

I do prefer JTs over A5s for many reasons, but still, this is a fold (we're not even 20BBs deep!).

Not the greatest hand to pull this move with. The most probable hands for the limpers are small/medium pairs, and small SCs (87s) or big connectors (QJ/KQ). SC's won't call (most of the time, heh), but pairs will, and KQ will occasionally gamble. We want to have a good chance if we get called, and I prefer either AT+ or something like JTs here. We're rarely dominated with those hands, and will be coinflipping against hands like 88, but with hands like A5, we're either 70/30ing or worse.

Standard here too. He's most probably doing this with a small/med pair as a stop n go type play, and occasionally QJ/KJ I think. A pair vs overcards postflop is about a 3:1 favorite, so keep that in mind next time you run into this kind of play because you might be getting the right odds to call. 1.9:1 here isn't.

Careful with AJ here. I like the opening raise, but we have to be really cautious if we get called. If we get a raise behind us we should be automucking this unless we're getting odds vs a shortstack AIPF or something.

2.76:1 is pretty much good enough to call ATC here. Also, the fact that after seeing this hand, other short stacks will definitely think twice about shoving your blind seeing as how you showed down such a weak hand there.

Standard. If you're going to make 2.5BB raises with your bluffs, though, then do the same with your actual hands. If you're varying between 2.5 and 4 or 2.5 and 3 or whatever, then raising slightly more with a vulnerable pair like 8s is fine. We don't exactly want action.

I don't think it's a Q since he most probably would have ch-r you, but it's possible. I think his more probable holdings are small/med pairs and random hands like A9 or 45.

Raising's bloats the pot too much - it makes the play that much more volatile. I really like the smooth call because we not only most probably are ahead here, but we've also got outs to improve, and outs to bluff.

I think it was Harrington who said we can occasionally include scare cards into our outs because it gives us a chance to take the pot away. I think kings and aces can be included here.

This is very obvious to anyone with any experience...you being OOP, having rarely showed a 3-bet before...this just has to be a monster if I'm seeing this through villain's eyes. You'll fold out a lot of hands here, but then again any bigger raise will scare away just as many hands.

I don't think it's bad, but it's just something to keep in mind. Tiny, inviting 3-bets in situations like these are very see-through.

This is generally a bad-textured flop for you, but I think it depends on what types of hands your opponent limps with. We can fold out a lot of small pairs here (probably up to 9s, not including 6s of course), but at the same time we get into a lot of trouble vs KQ or KJ or those type of limping hands.

The problem with this type of hand is that we're either going to be sitting on an unsure pair of kings or nines, or will be drawing to a flush. Drawing is the last thing we want to do at this stage, especially if we're playing our draws like you did in the last hand - passively.

Just a thought; try (what I think is called) the go-stop-go once in a while. It's basically a c-bet that's delayed until the turn. This is a great flop for us, but we can also switch up our standard 'raise PF, c-bet flop' routine and get our opponents heads churning.

If villain checks behind us and a brick drops on the turn, we can fire a little 1/2 pot bet and take it down a lot of the time. He will get a little confused with your line and probably deduce that you're either getting tricky with a big pair/set, or have some small pair that might have been afraid of the jack. He'll also realize that his ace high (in this case) will have one less street on which to improve. He no longer has the turn+river, but only the river.

Another thing to keep in mind is your stack size when you're stealing. These guys are now realizing you're probably raising with less than premium hands, and will be more likely to look you up or even play back at you. At your stack size, I'm waiting for better hands than Q7 because we're just plain more likely to get called.

I think getting crazy and raising hands like this for steals should be saved for medium and big-stacked play unless we're very sure we can take the pot down.

Definitely not the time to be limping. Just fold here. I don't think effective stacks are deep enough here to be limping with hands like this. You're basically playing for 2pair, flushes or trips with this hand, and you'll rarely hit any of them.

We're about 8:1 to flop a flush draw, nevermind a made flush (which, according to this, is a 118:1 shot).

Plain and simple, unless we've got unusually large effective stacks at this stage of the tourney, we shouldn't be mining anything without very very good odds. It's basically raise/fold time. Not to mention we will occasionally get involved with an ace - I realize bw's good enough not to commit himself with TP no kicker, but if everyone checks an Axx flop, bw' probably going to put in a bet on the turn, and he could run into a bigger Ax. We could also get in deeeep shit if we flop TP with the nut flush draw. It's just not worth it.

While I like to act like I know EV and odds and all the math behind situations like this, I'm pretty clueless, and I'd say based on feel that the minimum for me would be A9s or ATs here. Even then though, I'm probably raising it up and trying to take down the dead money.

Plain and simple, unless we've got unusually large effective stacks at this stage of the tourney, we shouldn't be mining anything without very very good odds. It's basically raise/fold time. Not to mention we will occasionally get involved with an ace - I realize bw's good enough not to commit himself with TP no kicker, but if everyone checks an Axx flop, bw' probably going to put in a bet on the turn, and he could run into a bigger Ax. We could also get in deeeep shit if we flop TP with the nut flush draw. It's just not worth it.

While I like to act like I know EV and odds and all the math behind situations like this, I'm pretty clueless, and I'd say based on feel that the minimum for me would be A9s or ATs here. Even then though, I'm probably raising it up and trying to take down the dead money.

Rex has got 45 BBs, one opponent ahead of him has almost as much but the other only has 17 or so. But you didn't like the call preflop there either, and he ended up in just the kind of difficult situation that you're trying to avoid.
