[SIZE=-1]I have a bad habit of simply calling a raise on the button, without raising, when I think I have the best cards. Was this the right time to come over the top? Could/Should I have raised less? Villain has been playing slightly tight. No poker tracker stats. Thanks for your opinions.

shoving here is standard. you only have 17 BBs and you'd like to see 5 cards (or possibly make villain fold something like a small pair preflop). you're getting called by AQ every time and AJ/worse a lot since it's a 4/180. just calling when you'll miss the flop 2/3 of the time will put you in awkward spots with these stack sizes. you might miss and let him push you off the pot on a c-bet with a weaker ace when your AK high is best

Easy push, sir. You can't flat call and pull a stop and go here with the stacks and blinds.

He had JQ and won the hand. Thanks for the advice, it's what I expected/wanted to hear.

That is such a terrible call with JQ, don't you just hate when that happens.
