Depends, are you likely to be called or will you just pick up the binds? Generally speaking I laugh when people do this early because they usually only get the blinds. Of course there are some fools at the low limits that will call but over all, shoving AA's early is a rookie move.

Going all in on the first hand might give you some chips earlly in the tournament but those chips wont last because you will go on tilt because of your big pot and think you can take anyone down and might call more flops then usual busting you out of the tourney.

Dont slow play aces ever!! They are just a pair! I always play them aggressively. Wich to me is bet at least 5 bb preflop if not more. I would much rather get money in preflop and if the board texture looks bad for my aces I can back it off and fold if I have to. I would never put may aces all in anyhow because I would like to get maximum equity from them if I hit.

P>S Never go all in preflop in the first LVL. Thats a donk move :p

The point was not to criticize you but to emaphasize there is a difference between freerolls and tournaments people actually pay to get in. That shove most of the time in real money tournament will only net you 45 chips.

My thinking is this, I try to not get all in just incase I if do loose I am still in the game. I would rather allow myself the oportunity to continue play if I make a mistake instead of my first mistake being my last. If I have a decision to call and all in with AA then I go with whatever information I have on the player at this point in the game and decide what I feel is best depending on the board.

The hand is in the TOURNAMENT hand analysis section.

OP - It depends entirely on situation, but I never open-shove aces pre-flop unless i have <15BBs.

I never slow play aces, I always push as much as possible, like 4xBB, if someone reraises me, I go all in. If they call, then after looking at the flop, I reraise 50%-75% of the flop, or if they raise, go all in. This strategy seems to work most of the time. However, there are instance where you can get completely blind sided. For example, I had A A in a ring game, flop comes out A 9 4, and I'm pretty much partying right now and then another 9, and the other guy goes all in, I celebrated and called...he flips over 9 9.....so crazy, lol.

I tried different approachs to deal with that (of course I prefer deal with AA that with 27o), and the only thing I have in mind when I have pockets As is try to see the flop with only one or two players.
I prefer only get the blinds that have a mini-raise call show with 6 players seeing the flop.

You don't push all-in. Milk it slowly. I've lost with probably just about as many times as I've won with them. It's a risk to just shove all your chips in and hope for another ace. I mean what you've got is a pair of aces. A lot can beat that. With 1500 chips I'd raise to 150-200 preflop and play from there.

I agree, and I don't mean slow play, make a good raise and see the flop, frw's love a 1st hand all in, it means you have 2 high cards min, if they have suited connectors or just low cards they will call , if a rainbow unconnected flop comes out, then shove, in the OP, the 2 AA holders should have split it right there, but then again a freeroll donk on a flush draw would prolly call, at least it gives you a chance to let the hand go, knowing he had to be on a draw, or maybe hit trips. On the OP flop, villain has a flush draw and a gutshot draw, you have a pr. Remember the saying AA wins lots of small pots, and loses lots of big ones.

My concern with A’s on first level action is starting Stack Size.

poker stars- 1,500 20/40 4x raise = 160 or approx 10% of stack. (may think a bit before calling)

party poker- 3,000 20/40 4x raise = 160 or approx 5% of stack. (worth seeing a flop)

I will normally donk off a few early chips to see cheap flops, so if I miss the flop, oh well.

What I’m getting at is, a lot of players will burn a few chips early, so if I have Aces first hand, I’m going to make you pay 15 to 20% of your stack to see the flop.

River bet is too small. Gotta be a push with no draws completed and the pot size. He calls more often than he folds making it +EV.

you should be making a standard bet of 3-5 BB when you are holding AA.

Dont let the table know you are holding a monster, keep m guessing
