$75 buy in MTT at local Casino. 10k starting stacks 20 minute levels no antes.
I think I played pretty well today other than the 2 missed river value bets.

Blinds are 1,000/2,000. I have about 35k in chips. I have QJo & raise to 4,000. I get 3 callers. Pot is 16,000 going to the flop. Flop comes Q6x rainbow. Another player (Who has me covered) bets 13,000 & the other 2 players fold.

I can call his 13,000 and be left with 15,000, or 7 BBs, if I fold to a bet on the turn. I, of course, can also fold now. I elected to shove. He calls the extra 15,000 & turns over Q10o. Turn is a 10 & river is a brick. I am out.

Would you have played this hand differently?

What position were you in for this hand? What about the guy who bet into you?
Any reads on the guy who had you covered?

Minraises in live tournaments just don't get the job done. You need to raise bigger preflop if you're raising at all, 3x or more depending on table.

If you call the flop you're committing to the hand so the only reason you would call instead of reshove is to keep his range wider, but you should never fold the turn with so much invested. I'm not folding this flop without some super read on the guy.

I was in MP. The guy that bet into me post flop was the SB. I was recently moved to this table, but based on the hands I have seen him play, he will be aggressive without a huge hand. I felt I was ahead post-flop. With the blinds at this level, min-raises usually do take it down (At this casino anyway). I just seem to pick the wrong spots lol.

If they're folding to min then this all sounds pretty standard to me, a better player may have more to add though.

Most raises by other players at my table, at this time, were min raises FWIW.

Not sure if I'm opening QJos in MP when we're <15bb deep.

We get called by better hands and also get re shoved on a ton and we're going to have to fold, I'd much prefer a late open with this hand.

As for the hand, if you flop TP and you're so short it would be a mistake to do anything other than get the money in as this is like the best flop you're hoping for..I mean, what else was you hoping to see? You essentially have the the nuts when this shallow..and as dry as board as possible..it's a no brainer get it in at any point spot.

There's no real way to play the hand in a sense when we're so short; I mean we have TP so you can jam over his bet on the flop when he donks out or just call (dont ever think about folding turn regardless of card though that would be bad), either is going to achieve the same result as it doesn't look like he will fold to a 7bb shove on the flop or turn so just personally I'd get the chips in flop/turn it doesn't make to much difference here.
