Live MTT $75 buy-in. 20 minute levels. No antes. 10k starting chips.

Last month, we are very late in the tournament. 11 of us left out of over 100 & only 8 get paid. I have about 5 BBs left. I am dealt A5o in the blind. I limp in & am out of position vs the only other player in the hand. Flop comes 2 10 3 all clubs. He makes a standard bet & I shove as I did not believe he had any clubs (I have no clubs either). He calls my shove. He has no clubs. He hit the 10, though.

I could not hit my draw or get an ace so I went home in 11th.

Did I make the right move here or should I have folded & waited for another spot?

You should of jammed pre, at this stage nearing the bubble people will be tight, therefore you can steal blinds and attempt to build stack.

I also think that all in pre flop is better option. It easy to say, but it is more possible that your opponent would fold.

I do agree with you guys after looking back, but not sure he would have folded as I had been shoving on him several times & he was getting visibly pissed off by it. :D

You were the SB and only up against the BB?

Defenitely a shove preflop.

I am assuming you have either 6 or 5 players on table. In this situation any ace is quite strong and definite worth the shove preflop with 5BB.

OK

I didnt get this part.

I am dealt A5o in the blind

Maybe someone limped and he is the BB? Only other explanation. Regardless, the description is missing info.

If you are SB, you shove pre.

If you are BB vs EP limper, it changes the dynamics a little. I need stack size of villian.

I would still shove pre-flop with only 5BBs left.

In the BB depending on the villains stack size you may need to jam any Ax. Honestly though being this close to the $$$ on a short stack you should be considering many other variables I.E. other short stacks styles and stacks as well as what you know of the limpers tendencies.

this

may as well get all of your fold equity preflop, might get T4 to fold.

If you're not going to shove preflop, then you shouldn't blindly shove the flop but wait till you make a hand. shipping pre is better cuz it's hard to make a hand.

You shouldn't have let yourself get to 5BB to begin with, but as (terribly) described this is a snap shove pre.

That's a part of my game that I need to work on. I don't open my range later in the tournament.

This hand was played pretty bad.

First off, how can you limp if you are in the blind?

Second, how did you even end up at 5BBs? You should never blind down that far before making a move.

Third, why didn't you ship it preflop? Shoving on a monotone board when you hit no part of it is kinda strange.

I guess my advice would be you shoulda shipped preflop. However, you probably had other opportunities waaaaaay before you blinded down to 5BBs to make moves.

All due respect. Just stating my thoughts.

You've simply repeated what others already said. I get it.
