So I play this rebuy at my local casino 4x a week, and cash most of the time. Now this is what I know of villian after playing him so many times.... He's a horrible horrible donk, in fact over the past year this is the only time I've seen him at the final table. He doesnt know squat about pot odds or position.

This is his range...
Any ace or face regardless of kicker
And any 2 suited cards (yes he will always play a 72 suited lol)
He will always defend his blinds ALWAYS, doesn't matter how bad his pot odds are.
That is why he probably busts out very early everytime and never cashes.

So anyway, I'm waiting for an opportunity to catch a hand and collect from his constant defending. We are almost tied for chip leader. Blinds are 800/1200.

Folded to me
Hero [CO] Jh Jc - Raise to 3600
Villian [SB] Calls

Headsup

Flop Kh 7s 10s
[Villain] min raise 1200
[Hero] 3bet 3600
[Villian] takes a whole minute to think and calls.

At this point this told me he doesnt have two spades as he is always quick to call when his draw is stronger. Leads me to believe he hit top pair.

Turn Js
[Villian] min raises me 1200.
[Hero] All in 28000

I raised all in because I hit the set, and I know he has a king and possible one spade and I want him off his draw if he has it.... hes thinking hard. Takes almost 3 minutes.
[Villain] Calls with Kh Qs

River 9h completing his straight.

My buddy busted out right after when he raised with AQsuited and he of course risks his whole stack defending his small blind with Q10 and rivered a 10. lol. I'de like to think I played this well, and his donkishness was just luck that he final tabled.

Was this a bad play on my part, I did have a very good read on him and am almost always right about what he has.

Oh and his usual line is always "But they were suited I had to play" or "No one will ever raise me off my blinds" what a donk

How well you played the hand depends on what you were trying to accomplish plus your evaluation of the opponent. So I wonder what you thought his min-donk on the flop meant. You said he'd call his draws, but not whether he would lead with them, and min-lead at that. Plus what would he min-lead with that he'd then fold to your small raise, and would he fold anything better than your JJ?

Also, how likely was he to call your turn shove with less than the hand he actually had? I don't particularly mind if he calls with 17 straight and flush outs plus pot odds since I'll win about 2/3 of the time. However, do I really want to fold out the rest of his range?

forget the river which is a total bad beat.

all the money went in on the flop and turn, so let's evaluate those.

Flop: I suppose raising to find out where you're at is OK. But I'd be inclined to flat with position and see how the hand develops. If he does have the K you limit your losses, and his tiny bet is almost giving you the proper odds to suck out. It's starting to get expensive and you may be overcommitting yourself with your JJ, which is now just an underpair. I hope that if he 4bets on the flop you would fold. I hope that if you brick the turn you fold to any turn bet.

Turn: Yay...we got bailed out by the deck! and...he leads into us...yippee! This is when we need to extract value, and so I do NOT like your shove on the turn. Why are we so worried about getting him to fold his lone spade? if he indeed has 1 spade then he has about 20% equity to hit it on the river. If he already has 2 spades then you're putting your money in behind. It seems like by shoving here, you are turning your hand into a bluff. I would raise him on the turn; but I would raise to something like 6,000. If he sticks it in, then based on your read that he doesn't have 2 spades and based on the pot size you can go ahead and call. If he folds...fine. If he flats and a spade comes on the river, then you can maybe escape with part of your stack.

I think u played fair...but I have few questions for...
when u say u know he ALWAYS protects his blinds...why did u just do a 3x bb bet preflop with JJ...when u could have put him on 6x bet....
Secondly, why did not u put him on 2 spades..when u said he will play with 27 suited.... I think u read him well but did not apply ur read well...
And yeah, villian got lucky...
