You got smacked by variance. Better luck next time.

Really, I'm not sure I would have played it as aggressively as you did. Too many cards can beat you (even besides the trip - 4s) There are heart flush draws and straight draws on that flop. I would have checked/called to the river as played. I don't think an open shove was the right play.

ty for your analysis and I apologize for not reading the posting guidelines and not using the hand converter I guess that setmining is wrong in this situation? Is that for only cash games. i thought the only people that would call are pairs or paint cards preflop,and then if they pair up and I do hit the flop the hand would be disguised. I guess I have a lot of studying these are my first full ring sngs played mostly 6 max turbo. thanx again. Next time I will follow the guideline posting rules.

Personally, I think the game stakes have a lot to do with it. I play mostly small games and see that others call almost with any 2 cards no matter what the bet. If there are more than 1 caller, I'd play it really slow.

Depending on the reads I'm either raising this preflop here or folding. If the table has been tight, I'd raise. If the table has been loose I fold. Only way I'm set-mining this is if I have a 90% confidence read that says those behind will only call if I also call the UTG+1 limp. There really isn't that much room to be set mining with these stack sizes. IMHO set mining in SNG & tournamanets is for deep stacks (50BB+) or when you can close out preflop with 5+ players in the pot.

As played your betsizing was perfect to get your stack committed after the turn so kudos there. Just a cooler that it was set over set. You have so many more A-rag, TP & FD hands that would call here than hands that beat you.

I would have done it not much different I think.
Higher 3 of a kind is variance, can't avoid it...
