Maybe 88+, A10+, KQ, maybe looser depending on the table. I hate being this short, start shipping around 15BB.

I actually think that at only 5bb deep, he could have an even wider range. I also agree with this being a very uncomfortable spot in general. I personally start shipping with anywhere near a decent when I'm below 20bb. Below 10bb I'm shipping almost anything just because by then even if you double up, you're still in bad shape. You need to be well above 20bb in order to have any kid of breathing room in a tourney, or the blinds+antes start eating you up. Being at 20bb or below simply limits your ability to play hands.

Think of it this way: if you are at only 15 bb and you want to raise a hand that isn't a monster in order to steal the limpers/blinds, you are going to bet at least 3 or 4 big blinds. Lets say someone calls. On the flop you probably have to at least continuation bet for 1/2 the pot unless you are giving up on the hand.

If you give up, you are already at only 10 or big blinds and have to ship within the next couple of hands. If you continuation bet, you are betting at least another 5 or so big blinds and are already pot committed, so you might as well have gone all-in pre flop anyway! :)

Hope that makes sense. Good luck!
