I think these are the hands you can really get yourself in trouble with especially when two are already in the pot. With the hand being unsuited it actually makes a big difference since this type of hand is played for hitting a big hand, not just a one pair hand. I feel like if you call here you will have limited options to have the nuts or a draw at it so you will then call off post flop too light with just a one pair hand or be calling pre to fold on the flop often.

You should be looking for hands that can make the nuts easier than 87 offsuit can to play in these spots. Otherwise you will be bleeding chips unless the deck smacks you in the face so the best play is to just fold. 87 suited is a different story assuming the players after you are not aggressive.

Another thing to note is that you are at 50 BBs. If you had 150 BBs then it becomes more profitable to try to get involved with hands that have any kind of nut potential. Being a little shallow here and as mentioned a hand with limited upside, its better to just fold here.

87o is an easy fold for me here, but 87s is an easy call... it's all about those implied odds, I call suited connectors "the nutcrackers" so I try to play them whenever I can see a flop cheaply with them. Note that this usually also requires having good table position, because if we are in early position, we have no idea what the rest of the table is going to do and we might not be able to see the flop cheaply... but if you are in late position, the implied odds of having the nutcrackers is just too good to pass up.

Depending on how "aggro" your game is, you could also raise a hand like 87s on the button and give yourself all the options to take down a nice pot post-flop since you will be last to act every street, giving you a winning advantage just because of position... but for myself, I prefer to just call and see what cards come on the flop and go from there.

The main rule for preflop play is to give action with a range, which is a little tighter than, what you would have raised first in from the position of the initial raiser. The only exception to this is when defending our big blind, because then we are often getting a significant discount, and we are also closing action.

Here there was an early position open, so our range for continuing is something like AJ+, KQ, AXs, KJs, any pair. This is factoring in, that stacks are deep enough to setmine. If you dont need to worry about balance, then you can play 22-88 as a setmine and anything else as a squeeze. Note that I am not talking about hands like small suited connectors, since these are not even an open from EP. If the original raiser is tight, its also completely fine to fold AJ, KQ and the worst suited aces.
