I don’t know, what ICM-software would say, but for me this would be a call against everyone except a huge nit. You had 14 blinds, and while there were 3 shorter stacks at the table, the first 3 payjumps at the final table is typically insignificant, and they were not that short, so there was not a lot of ICM-pressure going on here. Your goal now is to reach top 3, for that you need more chips, and this seemed like a perfectly fine spot to try and win them.

Also would you have questions about this hand, if the Villain had not made a flush? Probably not and then you are really just annoyed, that he put a bad beat on you in a situation, where most of the time you will end up with a split pot. And yes that is annoying, but it obviously does not mean, you made a mistake. Even AA will sometimes lose to another AA, because 4 cards of the same suit come of the table. It just is, what it is.

Calling here is correct. Using ICM software as Fundiver suggests, the shover is supposed to be on a range of top 39%. I think most players will be slightly tighter than this, but either way your Nash calling range goes down to 99/AJo/ATs so AQs will be correct even if he's tighter.

This is an interesting spot and one where my range would have been wrong as in-game I would have definitely folded AJo because of ICM. Interesting it's this wide!

Yeah if I hadn't lost the hand probably I would just move on. It's funny that the hands we lost are the ones we learn the most. I will try to do a depth analysis of the hands I won too. But I thought, at the table, exactly what you describe: "I think this is close but is my chance to get 1st place".

I asked here because I used a ICM-software and restricted his range. After that the software showed a fold situation, so I wasn't sure if I was doing the right range for him.

Anyway I was proud of me for calling this because at the table I was VERY inclined to fold, scared of being eliminated in 9th. I think one of the steps to become a better player is neutralize the "intuitive and emotional" player and, besides losing, I think I did the best play.
