6 max, 20 dollar buy in. I don't know these players. I have not raised in a while. Bet 2.5x preflop and the button calls me. I C-bet K high and a gutshot and get called.
I hit my gutshot on the turn and bet again about 45% of the pot. While I don't want him to go away, I still want to get paid. River comes a King and I bet for value and get min raised. Trying to figure out what he has and figured most likely 2 pair or a set- no way he has the bigger straight, so jammed. Guess what....

That's just how it goes. If you're getting a lot of action it usually isn't a lowly two pair and, unless the jam is on the turn, usually not a set either.

Preflop
Standard raise.

Flop
You could check-call here, but C-bet is totally fine.

Turn
Now you have the nuts, so clearly you want to play for stacks. For that reason I would go a bit larger like 400 to set it up for an easier river jam.

River
This is obviously not a great card, because now there is a 1-liner to a straight, which makes it difficult to get paid by worse, and you also lose to AJ. For that reason I think, jamming for full pot is an overplay. You could play this tricky and check-call, but making a small bet, like you did, is also fine. However when he click it back, this is not a set or two pair. Those hands just call with a 1-liner to a straight. His range is AJ, another J or once in a blue moon some fancy bluff. And for that reason the best play is to just call the extra 300 and hope to chop the pot or catch the rare bluff.

I think that it would not have changed the outcome of the hand had I bet more on the turn, but yes I should have. He probably called the turn thinking he had more outs than the inside draw (he had the ace). Had I checked the flop I think villain would have stolen the pot from me.

What is a 1 liner?
