When he calls the flop c-bet I put him on an Ace, so I wanted to bet enough to get my stack in but not so much that I would scare him off the a5's or whatever that he might call preflop with.

His range is wider on flop than Ax. He defo has 9x and 87 (presuming he is like loose passive and not tight passive which most passive people are). I'd make it smaller pre. As played fine, I doubt he's folding anything that he arrived at river with so I think shoving will be best.

What are you asking here?

The way you played the hand is fine :) he is going to be calling with a wide range of hands. He can have lot of one pair and a few two pair hands in this spot that will pay you off, take it he does not call the river?

One of my major leaks is, well, thinking before I do things, so I'm trying to post more hands where I explain my thought process as I played so that I can see if it's correct.

ahh ok, its good that you are putting him on a range of hands and planning for future streets, all i would say is that on flops there are a lot of range of hands a player with these stats could have (VPIP tells us a lot), ie 9x, 6x (unlikely with you having a set but never know) sometimes 7's and 8's, and draws like 78. Just add a lot more hands to his range on the flop (although it is a pretty dry board ha). Obviously when it gets to the turn the range is narrower and again for the river. But you will get better the more hands you play.

Little bigger on the turn, but this is good. I also might raise a shade smaller preflop. And if villain doesnt fold to cbets, you may want to fold preflop.
