UTG calls t20, 4 folds, CO calls t20, Hero calls t20, SB raises to t370, 1 fold, UTG calls t350, 1 folds, hero ??

2 hands ago SB lost most of his chips by an all-in donkey play on the river.. Then he "push-overlimps" next hand and got lucky with his remaining 160 and doubled-up..

In this hand he shoves and I was quite sure he was doing it with a pretty wide range (although many limpers in the hand) but EP1 calls (but probably not with a tight range).. To the point :), is it very weak (big mistake?) Not to overcall here and fold pre?

Fold Preflop.

Like played i still fold.

UTG limp 23%. vs that range we are 55%, but why we want to gamble this early?.

Shorstack don´t matter (in the way i don´t care for his chips right now with this hand), if we win we go to 1800+ wich is not big improve this early, but if lose we go to 1100 wich will hurt, plus need to worry for UTG player, not sure how much fold equity we have if we shove (and i don´t even want to shove).

So fold and lose 20 chips, no big deal.

If want to call preflop because the odds from multipler limpers/lowblinds then play the hand that way (call/fold if not get your draw).

totally surprise to see this in $11 games in Stars, is this way always?

i get 3-4 "decent" players in fulltilt but in $2 games!!!!

Have the idea that $11´s in Stars was reg infested (maybe have to do with NO US anymore?).

Limping behind here is fine. When SB shoves and UTG flats again, what range do we put UTG on? Probably a lot of pairs, AK, AQ, maybe AJs or something, but probable not many worse aces. Can we shove for value against that? We're gonna be about 35% plus or minus against that type of range, so probably not. How much of that range will he fold out to a push? Probably not much, if he as willing to commit more than 20% of his stack already.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is I fold.

I actually think it looks really trappy by UTG so aswell as being up against probably 88+, AJ+ we could be crushed by QQ-AA aswell.

Easy limp behind, we have no decision once raised, dump it and move on. We should have a preflop plan or rationale before we play this hand.

What is your plan for this type of hand preflop, and how would you generally play it postflop? What types of flops are you looking to get the chips in with, what types of flops are we pot controlling with?

Preflop: like you said easy limp - suited Aces with limpers and in absolute position. We limp to hope to hit big esp. nut flush, two pair.

Postflop: If we hit TP-ten kicker & TP-ace kicker we generally want pot-control and fold to lots of/multiway actions and generally only continue with two pair + hands which we are willing to go broke with.. Otherwise make a 1 to 2 small to decent bets for value on the following streets and play and strongly when we improved to a big hand such as top two etc.

If we hit a flush draw we only continue if the actual pot odds or implied odds makes it correct to call. Generally, we have more implied odds when in absolute and with more callers.

Preflop in this particular spot: I would have called if no one has called the small shove but otherwise fold. Flatcalling is most likely to be bad and thus we should either push or fold (I guess because it's about 25% of our stack that we put into the pot which is already a significant amount (correct?)).

We shove if we believe we are often ahead against SB range (we are) & UTG range (unlikely).. which leaves us to folding..

Btw 2nd opinions confirming my decisions are correct or not is very valuable to me, that's why I posted this hand and hope you don't mind ;).. I mean sometimes I post hands I'm quite sure of just to have that 2nd opinion cuz there will be times I'm totally incorrect :).. lol

About right? ...

Greetz and thx in advance

Yeah, seems like a perfectly reasonable rationale :).

I thought i'd ask as a lot of players will flop a top pair and go nuts, which is never a great idea in a limped multiway pot.

I probably would of called to see a flop because you have a really strong hand with it being suited.

If I missed the flop, I'd check and wait for someone to bet me out of there.

This is a very exploitable strategy.

FWIW I do what cj / ben / WiZ said above: limp preflop then fold once it's shoved and called.
