UTG Limps, I call and BB Check

Flop

UtG Bets 2000, I raise him 7000 total BB folds and UTG calls.

Turn UTG checks I raise 10 000 abit under a pot size bet And he calls

River UTG checks and I bet 3 quarters of the pot UTG calls.

UTG shows Straight. wins the pot.

Just wondering can i really put him on the straight at the river and check behind.....
Just want to know if this hand was played poorly. I think he played it poorly by chasing like that...

Also he only called with the nuts, his hand should be dead.

It wouldn't be dead AFAIK, but most dealers would give him a penalty. Obv the fact someone called IP with the nuts makes me think this isn't a 6m 10k event, but I digress. Obv not checking river.
