To be perfectly honest I ran out of patience before this hand as I was in a Turbo SnG thinking it wouldn't take too long and the clock was ticking to the point I'd need to get on the road . . . so I chose this hand with low suited connectors to get more aggressive. I would and should have folded this hand I think, and won't start SnG games (even turbos) so close to needing to get on the road again.

Having said that, I was happy with the Flop and I thought I had a pair and a straight draw here. Then the Turn became Two Pair for me so I thought I was winning but of course it was the Villain's Gutshot that was hit.

Besides not being in the hand in the first place (or was this an OK hand to go into with suited connectors) how better to handle a situation like this? And what point should it have been folded once in the hand, or is continuing with a two-pair OK.

Had the Villain not had the right two connectors then he wouldn't have had the straight, so I wasn't putting him on the straight.

i dont like raising 78 suited with only 10bb stack first of all & with 8bb left, on the flop after raising 3bb we are left with only 5bb, so raising there also means that you should be ready to get it in with 2nd pair & gutshot draw

also, TJ on 895 is a open ended draw btw, so their straight draw has better odds than ours

What Kozong said. At 10bb you should be playing a push/fold strategy. 87s is not in the range that should be jammed. So fold preflop. When we get to the flop our SPR is one which means we get it in with anything that we connect with including second pair.

As others have said, with 10BB you should play pure push-fold. 87s from HJ is close, and it will not be a big mistake either folding or pushing. If you push, then most likely JTs does not defend, and you increase your stack 25% without having to show down the best hand.
