$1.10 NL HE Turbo: puny push and a supcisous caller, I have A9o 3.5 M effective stack

I'm really have no clue if I made the correct play here. I decided to fold because of two reasons:
1) BTN call suggested he had a monster hand
2) If I called in order to hit my A and go all in with it then I'd miles push all in preflop, because if I thought my A on the flop was good that means I am most likely ahead preflop anyway and hence, should push it.

Im ok with a fold here because buttons call for almost a fourth of his stack does seem kind of weird but If I had a stronger Ace (AJ+) or a pair like 88+ i might just shove(not sure if im right though)
