I had enough chips to speculate here for 1.5 BB. When I hit middle pair, I think checking is reasonable and I have a back door straight. I turn a gut shot draw so I don't plan on going anywhere for a reasonable bet. I hit my straight but there could be a bigger one so I just call the river and lose to the only hand that beats me.

Correct? Do something different?

"I had enough chips to speculate". This is another way of saying, you were feeling bored, so you decided to make a losing call and get involved in the action.

Flop
Heads-up this would always be a defend, but 4-ways, when someone else have already called, you need to play much tighther, and for me this is just a fold.

Turn
Having picked up a gutshot and facing a very small bet I would also continue, if I had someone gotten myself so far.

River
Unless he is totally clueless, he is not doing this with anything you beat, AND then also calling a raise. You are chopping a lot of the time, sometimes losing to JT and occationally beating a bluff, so there is no point in raising. Folding would be a little to tight though. If he has it, he has it, and good for him.

Conclusion
Turn and river was played well, but you did not "lose the minimum". The correct amount to lose in this hand is the 0,5BB, you posted, before the action got to you preflop.

Hello, I agree in the large part of Fundiver. Hand T8o from the small blind, in multi pot agains raise, it is fold for me, this hand is too weak to play. If would be limped pot you can call pre flop with T8o. Even t8s from the small blind isn't good to play from the small blind against one or more players. As played - fold the flop. Backdoor to straight, we have too small eqguity to continue the game, besides we play against too many players, the pot is a little too big. The river card - hard decision, He plays overbet, so I think that sometimes I would believe that he has better straight. Sometimes I would fold our straight, because his bet on the river is too big. GL :)

Thank you for posting.

Losing the minimum in this hand is folding preflop. Why Fold?
This was multiway preflop before you called OOP with a gapped hand that loses to other straights a lot and makes dominated top pairs and 2 pairs again because 108 vs all the Tx is getting crushed and V love to play 10x hands multiway. Top pair with Tx is way behind the range of the opener and the caller so we do not even want to make top pair on the flop. If you never played a Tx hand in a spot like this by calling you would be +EV vs calling.

When we speculate we want a hand that make the nuts vs our V's ranges so 75 off is way better here than 108 based on range vs range and nuts over nuts runout frequencies.

Calling this flop suggests you would have a better ROI from the SB by being 100% TAG multiway.

Hope this helps
