After suffering two months of downswing at pokerstars, playing every day of the week, I decided to bet the rest I had on a single football match.
But despite being very stressed, I still made a point of researching the match in question, which was for the time I'm rooting for...

But the result was not good and I lost everything on a bet that wasn't worth all that risk, odds of 1.44 if I had been right.

The total value was $215 which may seem like little more than it was actually a considerable amount for anyone playing in tournaments with a maximum of $2.20!

Has anyone here on the forum ever done a bigger thing than that?

probably it would not be worth risking so much for all the money, there is no 100% guarantee that the bet will play

So you lost all money (215.-) on single bet? If yes then yeah i have done exactly that with atleast 4-5* bigger amounts lol. No regrets.

Hello
It was the same for me, I stopped betting on sports, and football is now unpredictable.

I do not like betting on sport, it's more like gambling. Better just to play poker and not pay attention to other such things.

No, I never did something bigger or smaller, I am not attracted to betting, I honestly prefer to lose everything playing poker even in a bad streak, anyway it seems risky to bet everything on a single game, there is always talk of diversification.

You obviously violated 2 of the golden rules of sports betting:

1. Never bet on teams that you love or hate hard. Your judge is not objective.
2. Never risk more than 5% of your bankroll on single bet.

Following these will not automatically make you winning bettor but it is good start. :)

So poker isnt gambling right? There you also basically risk with money though ...

Dont tell me what to do. If i want then i can put entire bankroll on one bet
Cause how it was - high risk high reward or what :dontknow:
But then again in any sort of gambling (casino/poker/betting) it is probably never wrong to follow mindset "love to win but can afford to lose" ...

Hello, I never bet on sports and probably will not do them, since I think this is a bad idea, sports are unpredictable, and if you know that some team will win 100%, then the win is minimal and you risk more than you will win! Maybe someone is very well versed in sports, but alas it's not me, it will be easier for me to immediately throw money out the window! I advise you not to be upset about this, as they say "learn from mistakes" and next time you will be smarter and will not put the whole bankroll! Good luck to you!

Yep. In 2005 I lost $850 playing online blackjack. I was on tilt from losing a few poker MTTs.

I learned to never do anything like this again.

Most of us have lost our discipline at some time or another. The main thing is to not make a habit of it.

I only had this in a casino. The rates are almost the same as those of the casino. Better not to play these games. If you still want to place bets, then you need to bet no more than 30% of your bankroll per bet.

I never bet money on sports. But I can understand risking a whole bankroll on a bet if you are really on tilt.

Damn, that sucks but why would you bet on a close game? I don't know jack about Brazilian football but I know those two teams & I know they have some rivalry going on not sure to what degree, so I think you went all in with 22, :p

well, I always like to analyze and research about everything I try to get my hands on... Despite the tilt, this game was very interesting as Santos would play three days later against Boca Jrs from Argetina for the Copa Libertadores in the decisive to advance in phase. So Santos would come to play against São Paulo, which was the current leader of the Championship and playing at home, with a team full of reserves and junior players... Despite the odds being low in my favor, the strategy was to earn some money to be able to play various tournaments of $1.10, $2.20 and even $3.30... But the idea didn't really work out.

Don't worry. After the downswing for almost a year, for me, poker as a way of making money has ceased to exist. I became disillusioned with poker. Now I play freerolls for fun. It may be better that you lost br on bets. With such a bankroll there is still nothing to do. .I am convinced of this. Play for fun and that's it.
