Why do people play on PokerStars?

It is, objectively, worse than every poker website at everything except player count. It has worse prizes for SNGs than 888, it has fewer MTTs freerolls than 888, a worse rewards program than partypoker, and even doesn't have that great software and Apps compared to both the others. They also don't have a great deposit bonus.

I could understand having the biggest playerbase among new players just because of marketing, but even a lot of professional players go there despite most likely getting 6-15% rakeback instead of the 40%+ they could get elsewhere.

I'm not being facetious - I'm trying to decide which website I should play with and am just baffled by the size of pokerstars despite it's almost complete inferiority. Is there something I'm missing?

Size, software, reputation, big tournaments with big prize pools, name recognition, promise/efforts to open up to US real money players again some day. However, they are going through ownership & business model issues right now and could conceivably drop out of the mainstream poker market in the future.

I completely agree with you, there are so many other better poker rooms, PS is not suitable for novice players​

Wash you are not objectively rated the site. I think that reybek is not very interested in most players. Most importantly a large selection of tournaments and tables.

That's exactly my point - no matter how you measure it, PokerStars doesn't have competitive levels of just about anything. Paradoxically, it has the most players. I'm trying to figure out why.

Maybe we do not win much on PokerStars, but from a positive point of view, this is a very well designed software, impeccable customer relationship, when you send an email to PokerStars, you have a personalized and immediate response sales -The Team is great, there is nothing to say, but you have a reason, PokerStars, you never win, I do not know if the software is wrong, but you always end up losing if you have a full, the villain has a square, and it's too weird to badbead

1) High page rank of the website is guiding new poker players to PokerStars.
2) Great investments in advertisement is guiding new poker players to PS.
3) The more new players join the game - the more fish and money there will be.

So the questions are - do you worry about rakeback or do you worry about high winnings?

PokerStars offers the best software in the poker industry, 888 and party and rest of the rooms don't even have 80% of options that PokerStars offer. You can modify fonts, background of the tables and so on.
Talking about the number of tourneys - are you serious that 888 offers more MTTs than PS? Maybe you have filters turned on at PS, get rid of them and you will see that PS offers x2 times more tourneys and biggest tourneys can't be compared at both sites.

888 has probably the worst software, few options, terrible lobby, ugly avatars and so on. They can tell nice stories about the fish coming from their casino site and nice freerolls and rake back, but actually it all simply depressing, ugly and personally i want to leave 888 right after the first hand dealt.

PartyPoker is much better, but still can't compare with number of easy money around.

I like to play at iPoker network, it's small and full of regs, most of the kick outs in 5eur+ MTTs are happening because of something like JJ vs AK. You know why I like to play there? Cause it's like ancient Sparta, and when I start playing ACR or PS after playing iPoker I feel like i'm playing at much easier level with idiets who go all-in pre with A7os and think that it's normal. Brasilians at PS and Americans at ACR simply never fold A-rag to a preflop raise. Well, 90% of them don't fold...

PokerStars is a leader in the industry and this site is like a dictator. It offers the best service and that's the reason why they charge high fees for that service and pay less rakeback. Rest of the pokerrooms have to survive somehow, that's why they're offering freebies, bonuses and rest of the trash to attract the players.:bandit:

Pokerstars is still the best Poker Room out there. They have by far the toughest player pools out there. You must be referring to some of the freerolls that run there or your own experience. You can never judge the level of competition based on freeroll.

Their player security and customer service is unmatched in industry. Their withdrawal time frames will put most sites to shame.

Pokerstars have the biggest tourney weekly and also run the biggest online series out there. No other site runs a weekly tourney of $1M guarantee for just $215 buyin.

Pokerstars also have the most variety of games and offer the largest player pools for non-holdem formats. These games run around the clock. You will not find an omaha mtt on any other site at 2.00 am US time.

The best players play on Pokerstars. When Pokerstars was forced to exit the US market the majority of top US pros moved to another country. You just have to watch at the high stakes level and see which one of the sites have the most action.

They have homegames which gives anyone the ability to setup and run their own games with their friends most sites do not have this feature.

Pokerstars got make people think that who plays on pokerstars is pop and who plays on other platforms not. A lot of beginners, unconciously, think like this, pro's are hunting beginners whatever the platform is.

I think that the important factor is that the PS's largest poker room. Personally, I trust her because she's a long story, and I know that at any moment I can withdraw their money from there without any problems.

To be honest I just like pokerstars the most I have tried 888poker and I don't really like the site, the platform I also think most people play on pokerstars due to marketing I suppose it is the biggest poker website.

Like it or not, Pokerstars has best software BY FAR, nobody that ever played online seriously can argue with this, and number of players is by far the biggest, rake is getting big so maybe people will move to other sites if they keep making these moves, there are few other good sites to play on like partypoker and 888, but honestly they dont have that much players and cant give big GTD prizepools just yet, and their softwares are kinda bad.

You're right the software isn't as good as some other platforms but easier to access freerolls,its fun when you're winning and with alot of beginners its easier to see flop more often and in turn not have to bet blindly so often either.

Also they have a great social media service, messages returned promptly and boost/freebee give away allowances that support personnel at companies like 888poker don't have authorization to do.

Just play them all. You do not need to be restrict to only one poker site.
I made a schedule of freerolls and good tournaments to play elsewhere and I enjoy the best of them all.
But the software and the play action of PS are way over best than all other sites. The game is more dinamic and better to play, including with the percentage of chances on winning when all in call is in course.
