Strange but true:

Today I registered for the 500 GBP (about 800 USD) Sunday Afternoon Freeroll at william hill. A little before it was due to start, a friend came to visit. We sat around talking a while and I forgot about the tourney.

After he left, I went to the PC to break out of the William Hill site and go play somewhere else, having missed the tourney. Out of curiosity, I checked the tourney situation. By now, it had reached the first interval. There were 320 of the 1000 starters left, including me ! I was not quite blinded out, had about 3 BBs left.

For a laugh, I decided to play just one hand. First time I was dealt reasonable cards (K7s) I went all-in. I got two callers, made my flush and tripled up.

Ok, thinks I, got just about enough chips to play with now, might as well carry on. To cut a long story short, two-and-a-half hours later I reached the final table. Sadly, some guy sucked out on me then and I only managed 9th place. Even so, this was much the best result I`ve had in my four attempts at this particular tourney, and I didn`t even start to play until I was all but busted.

How weird is that ? :D

nice one :)

Had a similar occurence :-

Thought I'd signed up to 4 tournies on Party. In the middle of these tournies a 5th one popped up, which i dont even recall signing up to lol. I had about 1500 chips still, and it had been playing 1hr 30mins!

Similarity ends there. As soon as I started playing it, got knocked out :( :) Who said it was a game of skill? ;)

In a live tourney, this guy was over an hour late to a live tourney and by the time he got there, he was at the finalt table. They have a rule that when the late player's chips are down to their last chips as a blind, they go to an all in showdown and if the late player wins, they get the chips. I think that rule is crap.

Most poker rooms work that way, as far as I can remember, T1riel.

Incidentally, I`m not suggesting that sitout players rule or anything. Actually, I hate the muppets and they are a pain in the ass in a lot of tourneys, especially freerolls. This was a total accident on my part. Normally, I would never sign up for a tourney and not play, and I would always unregister if I found I couldn`t make it.

I played a freeroll on AP and with something like 50 people left it was time for me to go out to dinner with my wife, so I sat out.

When we came back from dinner I found out I had ended up in 7th place.

Congrats on making the final table.

I started on the Omaha h/l freeroll yesterday on Jetset, and made it up to second place with about 27, or 28,000 at the first break where I had to sit out to go get my parent's, car's brakes looked at. 4 hours later I logged in on JetSet at my folk's house to see where I finished at. I finished 12th after playing only about an hour. Wasn't much for that like 4GPs but I thought it was funny.(BTW I usally don't do the sitout thing very often at all)
