Should online poker sites let user change screen names?

I think if people could change screen names whenever they wanted, it could stop a Heads Up Display software from tracking how poker players are playing poker.

I think no. What for? You have your screen name and should use it all the time to let others initialize you

I agree you should have to have the same screen name that you use. If you have holes in your game it's your job to find them and fix them. I feel you shouldn't have to hide behind the fact that you can just change your screen name when there is problems with your game.

Hi There
I Think that you must use your ID as long as you play in a site
As an idea any kind of software should be banned
And NO do not agree to change IDs

I think they should allow us to change the screen names with a restriction maybe , let's say once per month or 3 months . Why not , maybe we desire sth new for a change , maybe we would like a better screen name than the one we already have which we didn't did a good job or we made a mistake (lol-that's me ) choosing it , it's not everything about HUDs/all the statistics regs want to track via our name .

I can see and understand both sides of the argument so I'm not 100% sure there is a 'right' answer.

Stars have probably got it right, allowing changes when special circumstances require it to be changed but not just 'I don't like my username anymore'.

Years ago when partypoker was allowed in the USA, players could change their usernames periodically. Probably a good way to foil people using trackers.

In my opinion history and dymanic is part of poker, and I dont see, why it should be any different online. If I go to my local casino, can I change my name from George to Michael and put on a face mask, if I think, some of the regular players have picked up on my style and found ways to exploit me? Of course not, so why should it be any different online.

As others have suggested, if you have leaks in your game, its your job to find and plug them, weather you are playing life or online. Or you can switch to another game, another site or another casino, if you want to face new opponents, whom you have less history and dynamics with.

That being said if someone regret the user name, they choose, then whatever no big deal to me. So maybe its ok, if you can contact support and request for a change. But not like every session, every week or every month.

There are sites, which offer completely anonymous tables, and if someone wants to play on those, cool, its their choise. But for me I prefer to stay at table, where I know at least the screen identity of my opponents.

I agree with the above said. Each player must be able to initialize the player.
