I've recently started playing some MTTs on Stars again, doing OK after coming 2nd in the Splash $1 rebuy recently and have a bankroll of just over $300.

I can only play for a couple of hours in the evenings so mostly restricted to Time tourneys and Hypers but there aren’t loads running so considering playing some Hyper satellites (MTTs) too.

My question is whether you can unregister for the tournaments if you win a ticket and take the cash instead?

Also I suppose you need tighter bankroll management for these as only the first couple of finishers get a ticket and there aren’t lower cash prizes?

Finally, what are people’s thoughts on BRM for Time tourneys? I feel like you don’t need to be as cautious as for normal MTTs as the fields are smaller..

Thanks

Hi, it all depends on the type of tournament, it can be canceled, but it can happen that even if you can cancel, you will receive only tournament money ..

Thanks. Receiving Tournament money would be fine as I only play MTTs at the momemt.

I did get a warning when I tried registering for one satellite yesterday saying that I wouldn’t be able to unregister from the Tournament the Satellite is for, so hopefully the software warns you every time if won’t be able to unregister...

Few weeks ago a fellow cc member made a cc-thread on this (but I cannot find it). In short:
On ps sometimes you get auto registered into MTT's.
You can 'unRegister', the buy in will be shown as T$ (tournament dollars), not as a ticket.
You cannot withdraw the T$.
But.....There is a site where you can offer your T$ and get the ps ID of someone that wants to buy your T$ in exchange for real $ (only a little bit less).
The real $ you can withdraw.

Thanks for your reply. I would use the $T to play more tourneys, so that would be ok!

Every time tourney I have played begins as an all in festival with multiple player firing all in most hands until they build a stack, so as in many games on poker stars its no longer poker but over glorified lottery instead.

Have you heard of Dara o Kearney? He specializes in satellite play and done quite well out of playing multiple satellites for one tourney and cashing out spare tickets. He has just released a book on satellite play which is well worth a read.

Not all tickets can be exchanged for tournament money to have the tickets that are sure to play because a lot of wishing there to win a ticket to sattelite then be exchanged for tournament money and not participate in the tournament for whom are these satellites but usually when you register they write that you can not if you win a ticket to exchange it. But there is one more thing if you win a ticket to an already running tournament then it will automatically turn on. Here you need to be careful.

Ok so it seems like you do get warned if you won’t be able to unregister.

And that’s a good point, I’ll be careful not to satellite into one that starts on the same day.

It’s true there isn’t much skill involved, especially in the 15min ones

Doubt I’ll have time to read any poker books but good to know someone is successful making cash from satellites!

Well that backfired badly :(

I won a ticket to the Sunday Million in a rebuy this evening, came 1st out of about 90 players, had to rebuy about ten times in the rebuy period but was very happy to win the ticket. Now I can’t unregister for the tournament and I doubt I’ll be able to play it. There was no warning that I wouldn’t be able to unregister.

Was really excited about the prospect of T$109 but doesn’t seem like ill get it.

Just seen that it expires in March 2024, which is some consolation, can probably play a Sunday million by then...still would’ve preferred $T tho

Not always! And i don't know how it works but I got the 5stars rebuy splash sattelite for Sunday Storm I won entry but it appeared as ticket in my Account. I've tried to enter in tourneys with same price but it was rejected. Before years it was possible, but not any more.:joyman:

I have not noticed, I have not played it in the storm for a long time ... because they give me play money, so that you may have received it, but you did not notice ..
