Hello everyone, I am a resident of Russia and not long ago started playing poker on PS, from where I learned about cardschat, and from here I learned that in the USA there are problems with the availability of PS. I wanted to ask a question to the residents of the USA, why do you have access problems? I wonder what you write, thank you.

we are simply not allowed to play there ... there is US version of PS that runs in a few states but even that only has a player pool from those states and not the rest of the world .... blame our department of justice .... they think if you play poker online you are a terrorist :p

Our (REP.) leaders like to make choices for all of us. even tho most states have casinos and online betting now(well at least alot i know of like Indiana here) and lottery and legalized Marijuana they havent found a way to get there greedy hands in it, or more likely there pockets are being lined by casinos to make sure it doesnt get legalized here. Those states that do have it im sure its not worth playing. People have poured in Millions into the PPA and they must be pocketing it to have not made one step forward since black friday!!!

PS does not accept US players. Most likely it is part of a settlement with the American Government after they were accused money laundering and payed a hefty fine as part of the settlement, together with Full Tilt which they later bought.

For the spoiled Americans who posted above: Our country is not perfect by any means, but make no mistake, it is Heaven on Earth in comparison to Russia.

The ban against online poker in US is geographic and not directed against people with a certain nationality. So American citizens can play on pokerstars.com, if they travel to or reside in a country, where services are offered. And on the other side people from the rest of the world can not log on to pokerstars.com, if they travel to or reside in the US.

Some people have tried to cheat PokerStars by using VPN to pretend, they were in another country, while in fact they were in the US. As this story illustrate, that can not really be recommended. Gordon Vayo saved a plane ticket and some hotel expenses, but he lost his 692.000$ winnings and risked prosecution as well.

"Vayo didn’t cheat PokerStars; it’s a stretch to say he cheated anyone, and having close to $700k ripped from your pocket is punishment enough."

Yes he did cheat pokerstars and anyone who played legally and is lucky Stars didnt go after him for legal fees. LOL

You can play for play chips at PS from the usa.
You can play in the CC League and you can play the CC special Events
from the USA because they are set up as Home Games at Pokerstars.

I was just going to post here this very thing. PokerStars.com does allow US players to play in play money games, but no real money games.

Unless you live in Washington state - they do not even allow people to play play money games.

And now, apparently Pennsylvania residents are "under new management" :(
We can still play "play money games", but there are only a dozen or so to choose from and getting 6 registered takes for-EV-or

You can read more about the reasons by googling: "Black Friday. Poker". This was a turning point for the world of online poker, significantly reducing the number of players in the world pool of poker rooms
