I have a residence in MI. I decided to open a pokerstars account given it is the third US state to have the ability since the BS federal shutdown.

First off, usually, if you do not live in the country/state/etc. and there is a ban of sorts, you see an error message immediately when you even try to view the website, that didn't happen. I was able to see the site and then download the software... once downloaded i proceeded to look around the lobby for a good amount of time to see what the action was like. i then spent even more time making sure I utilized a good first deposit bonus, all the while I am logged into pokerstars's servers. I then make a deposit, and literally the second it clears i receive a message stating that real money play will be halted due to the fact that they can't verify my location. I look through the FAQs and see that you need to have wifi and your location privacy settings on. I was connecting through wifi and my settings were all correct. But still,, just an error msg. i then took two seconds myself to look up my IP and then trace it myself... my physical location immediately popped up , so why the f can't pokerstars figure this out? i have emailed security and customer relations, still waiting on a reply, but meanwhile, I just lost a couple hrs of my life to their bullshit.

They may need to check documents and place of residence / registration. This is a fairly standard procedure for players from different countries.

You are only able to play pokerstars MI while actually in MI.

The website will always be visible. It does the location check via the program.

I suspect, this is probably the issue, and its exactly the same in sweden. PokerStars have a license here, and we are allowed to play in the international player pool, which is great. But we can only play while in Sweden. The moment we log on from an IP adress in another country, there is an error message, that real money play is restricted.

Where you able to log in at any point?

Apparently there is a log in issue that can occur if you don’t log out properly.

Support called it a “hanging login”.
I couldn’t pull up any game on my phone App, and when I tried to log in from my computer I got a location error.

Support had to fix it.
