Ok first Off I dont want to hear that stuff
FULL Tilt sucks i get so many bad beats. and i dont really care about the competition level.

I know how full tilt tourneys work
In my opinion they are less people bigger buy ins and faster blinds.

Am i right in saying COmpared to Fulltilt That pokerstars tourneys are
Bigger (more people) and generally have longer blinds.
Also with more people = longer tourney but higher winnings?

Yes, PokerStars tourneys are MUCH bigger but a lot more places also get paid and with higher pay offs.

If I was choosing to win just 1 tourney for the same buy-in, I would definitely choose a PokerStars one.

I like the structure much much better on Full Tilt actually. It allows for more play IMO. On FT you're at 100/200 on level 9. Pokerstars usually it's 100/200 with an ante on level 7. The levels are a little quicker on FT (most tourney's are 10 minute levels, but the blinds don't get as big as quickly).

I love how people pick sites based on bad beats, that's a hoot. I used to like PokerStars, but besides being #1 appearance they really don't do anything for me. Full Tilt is where it's at by far just based on everything.

I like to get bonuses and then clear them off. That is why I like full tilt better than any site.Pokerstars may have better tourneys but I make more money to my bankroll overall clearing bonuses. My signup bonus at fulltilt was $600.I cleared that with ease and banked most of it because I broke even playing.Since then fulltilt has given me personally $3OO bonuses twice. They give me 2 weeks to clear them.I usually do with no problem playing $3-6 limit rings and $10 sngs.THIS is where I make most of my money online.

PS vs FTP

I think PokerStars has a better selection in the $2-$5 range as far as MTT's go, and more lower limit ring games under $1.

Because of that I think it is PS better for beginning players.

I don't really think the following is debatable:

- Stars has better choice and more players.
- FT has a better blind structure (well maybe it's debatable but I like the short levels with low increases).

I don't have a cash account on FT, but do on PS which is where I always play.
My opinion after reading through the posts is this, if you have the patience and disipline to wait out a potentially nice payday, then PS tourneys are for you.
If you like the tourney atmosphere but don't have the patience to sit for 4hrs or more then FT tourneys are the way to go.
As for the look and feel of the sites, they both have their pros and cons.

I am currently playing FT, but it is only my 3rd day on there (besides freerolls). At first I was a little disappointed because the blind structure. I am a player who enjoys small blinds and to grind it out, letting other players make all these huge raises with such small blinds while I play small ball.

After these 3 days and my so far success, I kind of like it. I did not realize at first that the blinds increase at smaller increments, so it really is not that big of a difference. It definitly provides more action and at my SNG's I wait for a hand whether I blind down to 1200 or 1100 and when I hit my stack shoots up to around 2K. People are more likely to put their chips in with just top pair since the blinds will hurt them soon.

PS & FT are both good for different reasons though. PS has a more of a variety IMO, bigger fields, bigger pay, etc. I am really enjoying FT right now, so that is my recommendation.

I find pro's and con's to both..and agree with most of the said comments.
Personally I only play on private buy-in tourneys or private freerolls so my stats don't appear as they should - but here's my personal secret to success on PS: CHANGE the Background Theme to one that calms you. I personally like the Marine Theme - it has increased my performance immensely. (I like it on the beach ;) ) LOL Many people have pesonalized themes that are uploadable - and I'm sure the subliminal background setting helps to put you in your "zone". I know it did for me :)

Cheers

I don't really think the following is debatable:

- Stars has better choice and more players.
- FT has a better blind structure (well maybe it's debatable but I like the short levels with low increases).

I think that says it perfectly. I've tried them both and I have to admit that the blind structure on FTP with the more frequent but smaller increases allows for more play and makes it less of a crapshoot. At times watching even the SM on stars I'm amazed at how the average stack ends up having a low M (~9) when its down to about 100 players, and we're talking about a tourney with a high buy-in that starts with a 10k stack. There is definitely something wrong with the structure and it surprises me that nobody, at least as far as I know, complains about it. I've noticed this many times on the SM and its not a coincidence, in my mind, that the WCOOP ME which has a $2600 buy-in has a different structure compared to the SM. It's going to have a 20k starting stack and 30 min levels, which intuitively is an excellent structure for a tourney.

IMO PS gets excessively caught up in worrying about how long tourneys will last, but then again they're the experts so one has to think they know what they're doing and if you consider how successful they are in their business it means they must be doing something right. If they read my comments here they might think that I'm the idiot who doesn't understand the on-line poker business and they're probably right. Sometimes you have to think that maybe people do prefer a faster pace, the fact that turbo's are so popular are a clear indication of it. After all, most live sitngos at casinos have 20 min levels, and if you consider how long it takes to deal the cards that's probably comparable to an on-line turbo. In general, looser players prefer the faster pace, tight players want a slower one.

So between PS and FTP tournies everyone will choose which is better based on how they play and the pace they think fits their stlye and time needs better.

As far as choice and # of garanteed tournies, PS has more players therefore they have the edge on that. I have to say, as far as my experience, that player support at PS is much faster than the one at FTP.

The software is terrific on both sites, I really love both of them and can't say which is better.

Overall, I think both of them provide a great playing ground and its not a case these 2 are the biggest in the world, although partypoker, which I never tried and have no idea how it is, use to be the biggest as far as I know before the UIGEA.

I have to stop making these long posts that probably nobody even reads.

LOL @ Joe...well said. Don't waste your computer resources or your own personal resources on party poker. I play on 12 sites - but PS,FT are obviously the best. Then UB, Carbon...but for those late nights/early mornings - I like Costa :) Easy money
