does anyone else think pokerstars chests is a rubbish idea.

pokerstars used to offer decent rewards. now its these rubbish chest things

These gift boxes are not gifts at all, they are just ordinary pumping of money. If before PokerStars presented tickets for a very simple task, now it looks like a “buy a present”.

I totally agree with you. The rewards are just not interesting and for me it takes a super long time to complete a progress bar, although I play almost daily.

I do not expect to get rakeback again from PokerStars (though last month I see the deadline period of 28 days until the chest expires , being renewed every time I play , don't know why ) . Maybe when I become a better player , have more successes in my satellite games and play more tournaments ?? Maybe then I get sth/sth better .
Also this idea to calculate less (half??) reward points for your tournaments or satellites that you play , I really dislike it , unfair .......)
PokerStars .....Better rakeback in the past , more and better freerolls in the past ....

I completed their challenge which was to win with AAAA QQQQ KKKK JJJJ 10101010 of all suits in a 24 hr period. Sent nearly $200 and what was my prize? 50 cents. Yeah they are rubbish and there are far better options out there.

Yes it is a lot poorer than it used to be. I used to get enough starscoins to play the deal every 12 hours and I used to win some money at that. I do not think I have made any money playing the deal in over a year. They also no longer seem to offer the challenges at the lowest stakes (.01/.02 cash and .25 spinngo).

I did that card hunt thing while it was running. Most of the time at micro stakes. I usually left the table with a small profit or even. The prizes were either 20c or 50c.

I think it's just brand recognition now. They clearly promote in Russia and china now. Never see any promotion for uk. I guess having the largest player pool and biggest tournaments is enough draw for higher stake players.

If it wasn't for the fish and the fast pace of the cash tables I probably wouldn't play there anymore.

To be fair, if I played on Stars all the time, it seem like, it would be pretty easy to upgrade to level 2, where the chests are bigger. I got 5 in the last 28 days, and the requirement is 10.

Depends what games you are talking about. For cash games and especially 2-5NL, PokerStars have the lowest rake of all sites, not the highest. Some of their SnGs are also fairly raked, like the 45-180 mans, the 50-50 and even normal 6-man or 9-man, when you get to 7$ and above. Only MTTs are expensive on Stars up to around 22$. After that it is the same as other sites.

This room is getting worse and there is no freeroll and the chests are rubbish. It is very difficult to obtain it so that they give you some miserable cents.

Does the pokerschool still run leagues? Does it even exist now?

I really think they don't care because there is no need to promote. The Sunday Million is probably their massive draw now.

There are still 7 times more people playing on PokerStars than on for instance 888 Poker, and its kind of self reinforcing. If you want to play tournaments with really big fields, only Stars can deliver that experience. If you want to play single table SnGs without waiting ages to get into games outside peak hours, only Stars can deliver that. If you want to play multi table SnGs, only Stars can deliver that. If you want to always have lots of cash tables running, only Stars can deliver that.

The chests contain only garbage. Can chests work for those who play often at high stakes? I don't know, but they throw garbage at me.

As much as I think the Star Rewards chests are not worth it the sad part is most of the other Poker Rooms offer you even less than what Pokerstars give you.


When they had their vip status before every month I would work towards keeping gold vip. Even if it meant playing more than I planned because I knew I was assured $120 in rewards for doing so. When I play same volume on new system I get something like $25-$35. It is now harder as well with mtt rake only 45 ponts on a dollar instead of 100.

As you can see they are a waste of my time I get them now when I get them I do not push for any. However I still get exciting to open a chest to see if I get any goodies, one day I will get something good. I am at silver chest by choice as I can get 1-2 chests a week. When I jumped up to gold chest I could only get 1-2 chests every month because the points requirements are so high.

At least now it seems that if you play for real money once in awhile the expiry date will move forward. For awhile there I think the expiry date was fixed so there was no way a microstakes player like myself was even going to be able to open one.

However, I do wonder if anyone making the decisions in pokerstars even reads what people are posting in the cardschat forums. Cardschat has now got close to 300000 members! I think if the people in pokerstars would just read what people are saying on here about their current rewards programs they would realize they aren't well liked by the players!

I completely agree with you, and with all the reviews listed above. It used to be much better and now it’s getting worse and worse. And freerolls are not the same as before.

Yes, absolutely. I have to find a way to turn this stuff. These chests and spins and draws and whatever popping up all the time is really annoying. I'm always accumulating these $5K freerolls that I never play.

I got a chest last night. I get a spin and go ticket but the tournament was a donk fest. a 5k free roll ticket they are usually all in idiots. and 8 of those coins things. It used to be a lot better you could actually claim money. Chests is like an idea thought up by kiddies. No wonder the big pro's don't care for this site any more
