Yes they dropped the guarantee of many of regular schedule tournaments. The change was widespread I noticed it yesterday on the Sunday games.

They adjust the regular schedule games guarantee both up and down all the time. They are the most efficient room at this and they do it avoid overlays. I rarely see a game with overlay on Pokerstars.

Indeed, they did the change yesterday, the truth is that they have already done it more than once, people can not complain since they give you the choice not to use their platform if you do not like it, it is an acepatas or leave unfortunate. The same thing happens with the tickets to the tournaments, before I remember there were even tickets to the tournament that now there is no more million sunday, but all that is over, the platform became greedy and more than that there are many famous people suing it because now they refuse even to pay the prizes. Regards

If they not change or do something they would kill the site. In the Theory, huge poker room like that should be better and better from year to year. But in real life we see it getting worst.

Maybe if they worked really hard to get us Americans back on the site, their downswing would be over.

But I know that won't ever happen. Our USA Federal Government is the most corrupt organization in the entire world. They took away our freedom on April 15, 2011 and it still hasn't been returned to us, the bastards...

Good luck poker stars, we still miss you.

All poker sites adjust the guarantied price pool of their MTTs regularly. A lot of people apparently dont really get this. But its not the size of the guaranty, which determine, how popular a tournament is. Its the other way around. The more popular a tournament is, the higher a guaranty can be offered. Of course no poker sites can sustain to offer MTTs with an overlay in the long run.

So its a sign, that volume is declining at the moment. And this is not just for PokerStars. Its pretty much across the board, and 888 Poker have also been forced to reduced the guaranty on a lot of their MTTs. Judging from PokerScouts.com the only sites, which seem to bug this trend, are the asian facing networks GG Poker and IDN Poker.

There are probably two main reasons, why all the western facing sites are seeing a decline in volume right now. First of all there is a normal seasonal pattern, where less people play during the summer, because outdoors activities are more appealing than sitting inside in front of a computer. And right now summer is beginning in the nothern hemisphere, where the majority of people live.

In top of that a lot of countries have eased up COVID-19 restrictions, which mean, that people, who were playing online poker due to a lack of alternatives, can now go back to doing, what they did before. This is a gradual process, which is still not completed, and there might also be some kind of "payback" for online poker, since people will want to catch up on activities like traveling, as soon as it become possible. So without sounding overly bleak about it, I think, its likely, this decline will continue well into the summer.

A smaller prize pool means that the fewer players there are, the more chances you have to make it to the final table. You talk about it like you make it to the final table very often in major tournaments)))For me, the fewer people the better and the prize fund is secondary

Pokerstars are doing every thing wrong if they want to keep their

players drop, guaranteed prizepools drop. nothing really to see here. what should they do? paying out of their own pockets? its just normal business behaviour.

and for those who say stars became greedy...well...that happened already years ago :) kind of funny people still complaining :)

This is a very good point. Even in soft tournaments its easier to beat 500 people to make it to the final table than to beat 1.000. So on PokerStars especially smaller fields is not a bad thing at all. The real problem is, that when volume decline, one might assume, that the worst players are the ones leaving first. So it might tend to make the games a bit tougher on average.

The only thing they think is to keep their profit and not in the players for now it works for them, it seems to me that in the long run, not
like all the poker pages,
few are maintained
The new ones grow with good offers and tournaments and then they become the same as all
You have to take advantage while they last

Sounds like they haven’t changed the prizes, just the guarantees. They were probably able to have higher guarantees as there was a large influx of players during height on pandemic. Now a lot of countries have opened a lot back up, there are less people off work to play and thus guarantees have to drop. Simple math to me. Play elsewhere if you don’t like it.

That said I was playing on gg poker today and had a bunch of alerts of overlays on their $1-$2 tournaments. I rarely see any while I play so to see 5-6 today was substantial and I play same time each day. So it looks like they are not hitting their guarantees as much either so they will probably drop theirs soon too if it keeps up. They can’t keep losing money each tournament.

No surprises there , the competition from other rooms, mainly GG are one of the reasons for the reduced traffic.
So they have to adjust, it doesn't matter to me, because in my country Pokerstars are one of the few rooms still accepting deposits/withdrawals. So I will keep playing there.

Exactly. At the hight of global lockdowns during last spring the "Sunday Million" became the "Sunday 2,5 Million", but it has since long been back to its normal $1 million guaranty, and now we are just seeing a further return to pre pandemic levels of volume across platforms. Nothing surpricing about this at all, and of course poker sites need to adjust their MTT schedules to the number of players, they have.

In a sense the whole concept of a guarantied price pool is actually a bit weird. Sites could also just announce the "2,2$ deep" or the "5,5$ daily marathon" and then let the price pool be, what it will be. But I guess, its a long run tradition and therefore not easily changed. Back in 2017 PokerStars increased the rake for MTTs up to 16,5$ by 20% quoting occational overlays as their reason. For me I would be perfectly happy, if they removed all guaranties but rolled this rake increase back ;)

They have been reducing the guaranteed entry for satellites as well and although this may make me less likely to play some of them, this is nothing that deserves lash back from the public. There are other elements of greed that are still a legitimate beef but this is not one of them.

The customer service level prior to the live chat being available was the elephant in the room and that is no longer a problem so the current management team deserves to be commended for fixing this.
