Why is it that the pros who play on pokerstars play very low limits?
I mean on fulltilt you often see them playing like 300/600 no limit, and 1000/2000 limit.
But on pokerstars they play like 100/200.
Barry greenstein has been sat at a table for the past half hour, with only 1.2K playing limit 50/100. I mean that is just absolutely nothing to him isnt it? Same with Daniel negreanu, he is playing 30/60 stud hi/low.
It just seems that the pokerstars pros play ultra micro limit online. Why is this?

What i have noticed is that the pro's ( sponsored players ) on fulltilt seem to play more often than the pro's at pokerstars.
Not just recently, but pre-wsop too.

Yeah me too.
I heard that fulltilt pros have to play a minimum of 8 hours a week, but that does not seem to be the case on pokerstars.
When ever im on stars i always look for the pros and this is the first time i have seen barry greenstien for ages, and im on stars quite a bit.

Yes aces, maybe it might have something to do with the difference in terms between the 2 sites.
I have no doubts that there is likely to be a big difference between the 2.

Edit: It is very likely that each individual at pokerstars has to play at certain buy-in levels to satisfy the terms of their sponsorship too.

Ya because some of them on PokerStars don't play AT ALL.

i never even thought about it ,lol , that all them pros may be playing somewhere on same site . they play at public tables ? that would be a good reason for lower limit games , so more people could play with them. i wish they would come play in the real low limit games just for the pr,that would be cool.

Ferguson was slumming around the freerolls for a while.

He was on a quest to turn nothing into 10K.

i saw allen cunningham playing in the $1k monday this week and he was probably the funniest pro that ive ever seen actually talk on full tilt.

he told a story about how he was playing poker with ben affleck once and ben was drunk and threw a chip at allens head.

Curious that this thread is up. I decided to see what pros are playing at PS right now, and Raymer is at a 200/100 stud HL table, and Barry Greenstein is in the nightly 100 grand tourney. And both of them are TALKING to the observers. Yes, I said talking to the people bothering them. Pretty funny chat really... once the idiots realize that the pros will talk with them, the asinine comments stop. Pretty cool of both Barry and Greg.

Contractual obligations as part of their sponsorship. Plus it's good practice. I've played Mike Matusow at 5/10 NLHE and watched Jennifer Harmon play 2/4 LHE. Practice or obligations. Take your pick.

greg raymer seems like a pretty down to earth guy.

heres another question: What poker pros do you think would talk to you if you told them hi, and which pros do you think would blow you off as if you were "just another fan"

2 off the top of my head that i think would talk to you (besides raymer) are negreanu and allen cunningham.

I read an article that said high stakes nl cash games are so dangerous because of teamwork online that many players with experience who can spot teamwork easily stay away after a few tries. I myself prefer sngo's just because of my fear of teamwork....it's just to easy to do in cash games. Yes, you can still do it in a sngo, just not as successfully. So, maybe our pros are pros because they dont like giving money away, and stay away from the dangerous tables.

Allen does talk a lot at the few sngo's I played that he was in. Every now and then I jump up to the high stakes. I've played with Huck Seed (a lot, he's a king of the ft sngo's) Stuart Paterson, Lee Watkinson (actually came down to me and him, that was cool, H2H), Gavin Smith, Roland Dewolfe, and Steve Zolotow. All of them are silent except Allen, he's cool, and funny. A player tried to be cool and asked him what he should do about taxes because he's thinking of going pro. Allen's response...."hire an accountant". Another funny thing was the pros sharkscope stats. Allen's were tremendous, best I have ever seen. At the time his roi was like 97%. Huck Seed's were steady. Everybody else's were pretty bad. Roland's were horrible. I usually sharkscope the whole table when playing a sngo and I found this very interesting.

the weird thing about Allen is that he seems so meek and shy, but its definately the opposite whenever i see him playing at FT

lol last time I saw him in a room I watched for a moment. Everybody was saying crap to him, and he just kept replying. "Please keep the chat about poker, Thank you!" :) I found that quite ammusing.

umm

full tilt pros are better. thats y the dude who won WSOP main event has a full tilt hat...and the runner up a pokerstars hat. (even if full tilt hat guy never played on full tilt) LOL

for real tho i once saw roland wolfe have a huge chip lead in like 400ker with 13 ppl to go. he had like 800k and 2nd place had 400k...than roland proceeded to donk it all off and come in 11th?!?!? i think out of all the pros the mouth is funny..y? because he drops more $ than the donks railing him...my 2 cents

Interesting, Raymer and Hachem both beat the largest fields of their time for their Main Event win two years in a row..both qualified on Stars in the first place.

And Jerry Yang is a tool. I wouldn't be proud to be affiliated with him, unless he gave me money ;)

Did he do it? :p

He was up to 1.8K last night when he entered a $30 omaha tourney... he dominated and won the whole thing for roughly $800.. I think.

So, he's definitely on his way to the 10K.

Online, I've chatted with Andy Bloch, Antonio Esfandiari, and Devilfish Ulliott. All are way cool.
