Are there any non-holdem players here ?
I usually play holdem only in tournaments/freerolls.
How do you feel about the mixed games scene on pokerstars and how profitable at what stakes can you be ? Taking into account at each tourney from what I've seen , around 15% players play good , 35% average to good and the rest are either trying it for the first time or go with whatever hand they think looks pretty
.
Hi
From the last year I'm playing non-holdem games maybe more often than holdem games when it comes to
real money. PS is the best place to play them so far, as they represent almost every single well-known mixed games from daily torunaments to the big series mtts.
Its really different game by game what prize-structure they have, and how many people make a try on that.
The most popular is definitely NLOhi/lo, which I not recommend. This grabs people because its fast, but its very close to
gambling. PLO or PLOhi/lo is a great one, pretty similar feeling that NLHO but little bit different numbers to calculate with.
My two favourites were HORSE and 8-games, and as I played them the most, I can help the most in it. The players usually average at low levels, but you can still use notes like tight, aggro, bad, great player, also they are not always great in all games. But in general they are still behave similar in the different types. The first gets in these two around 30-60 buyins, dependig the prize pool and how big the field. Last pay-out around 1.75buyins, but the payjumps are great.
From 2.2$ you can find great players, and not foolish calls, and for me f.e. the 16.5$ wasn't a huge move forward from 3.3$. So you can excercise in micro levels in HORSE and 8-game and most of the non-holdem games too. And I really recommend Limit and Pot limit games for you and everyone to at least make a try, cause expect L/P Holdem and maybe Limit Omaha, they are great.
