In my opinion, Pokerstars is still definitely the number 1 site. I've got accounts across quite a few other
poker sites but the only 1 I've ever deposited onto, other than Pokerstars, is SkyPoker (a UK only site) but that was years ago and that was because it was the first
poker site I played on before I had an account at Pokerstars. I haven't even played on SkyPoker in a few years.
I've essentially just set up an account with a bunch of sites and have used a couple of them to play
freerolls every now and again over the years.
There's 2 main reasons why Pokerstars has always been number 1 and probably will be for quite a while.
Firstly, the prizepool. As Stars has more players than its competitors it obviously generates consistently good prizepools. Other sites may have weaker players and easier to navigate to tournament wins but it doesn't feel as worth it if the money isn't as good. The chance at earning mega money from a small amount is always intruiging.
The other reason is the choice in games. This wouldn't have bothered me a few years ago as I only played Nlhe back then. Now, I still play more NLHE than anything else (purely because there's still so much more than any other variant) but I love to play a lot of the mixed games. Other sites simply don't have them available. Last time I had a look on
partypoker, they had a decent amount of PLO, a small amount of PLO8 and 1 Stud tournament but that was only there because it was part of a series. There's none in the regular schedule. Party are making some good business moves and growing in the right direction so if they can add mixed games in the near future then I'll certainly start depositing there but it will take a long time before anything overtakes PS, in my eyes.
Hearing good things about GGpoker though so hopefully they can carry on in the same direction and other sites can also give themselves a boost as healthy competition will simply bring out the best in the others and that's what we all wanna see.
