Did anyone else notice they discontinued the 18 and 6 man hyper turbos at pokerstars? I asked customer service about this and they said they "did it to improve pokerstars". Which is a weird response because those games were popular.

PokerStars have been reducing the selection of SnG formats for a while in an attempt to make games start faster. Its basically a reaction to the fact, that less people are playing SnGs in general.

I don't know anything about it, but I hope that more tournaments will appear in the offer then.

its a shame because i really love sng's. its a great format but its unfortunately slowly dying and i can kind of understand that stars cuts the different formats more and more.

those days are long gone where sit and go after sit and go would pop up seconds after you have registered :(

Exactly. OP wrote, that "those games were popular", but thats most likely a result of either selective memory or not having played the games for a while. Just for fun I set the filter to "hypers", and its not exactly like, there was a ton of action in those 9-mans, which are still left.

My best chance of getting action would have been to jump into the 1,5$ version, which already had 4 players registered, and even that might have taken a while. Sure right now is low volume hours, but SnGs are supposed to run all the time on a site like Stars, and these days they are just not.

And of course it makes no sense to offer a million different formats, which then rarely if ever fill and run. The issue with SnGs is, that a downward spiral is self reinforcing. If people have to wait to long to get action, then they deregister again, and the game basically never run, or it only run during peak hours.

Used to love playing SNG on stars years ago. While I cant play there today it still saddens me that this is happening.. Guess it part of the ever-changing poker world we live in.
