That message appears and after a few seconds it disappears, and than again, after few sconds it appears, and again it disappears...and again and again. So it don't quit.

Hmm. That's strange. During this process, does the whole screen flash at some point?
I opened pokerstars with the intention of taking a screenshot during this process, so you can see what it looks like. But this time I managed to log in to the pokerstars. It looks like it was an update again, and this time works for me. Now I'm sorry I tried anything, if I didn't I wouldn't have problems with graphics drivers now and I would have the option to put the laptop to sleep.

I will try to explain your question. Like I said, that message appears and after a few seconds it disappears, and than again, after few sconds it appears, and again it disappears. Between those few seconds, the whole screen appears but in a way that I can see the transparent outlines of the rectangle and everything inside that rectangle is transparent, I mean, the screen is visible. (I assume that rectangle is from pokerstars client). Outside the rectangle the screen is visible too.

The above video includes the easiest way to update the drivers. If that doesn't work, you may need to download a specific version of the drivers, or perhaps you need to do a complete uninstall first. This can be done by the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU), but that tool may require some advanced computer knowledge.

Thank you really. :)

Now the only problem is with the graphics drivers and the fact that I don't have the option to put the laptop to sleep.

I will have to deal with it now over the weekend. If I fail I will have to hire a professional.

I would not use win7 anymore for pokerstars, on my win7 laptop Stars doesnt work anymore (at least for me).
But under Windows 10 - no problems!
888, Party, Stars, ACR, Betonline - never had any problems
Only GG makes trouble sometimes: mysterious error "failed to patch"

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking of installing windows 10 on a laptop...not me, but an expert. I believe it would remove many problems.

BTW, every time you see that PokerStars Update window with the message "Detecting OpenGL support...", a log file is created next to your user.ini in the %localappdata%\PokerStars folder. Its name begins with PokerStarsUpdate.log. Here are some examples:
PokerStarsUpdate.log.0
PokerStarsUpdate.log.1
PokerStarsUpdateE.log.0
PokerStarsUpdateE.log.1

These files can be open by any text editor, and they may contain important clues. One of these files directly listed which line in my user.ini is causing the crash. Do you see any lines in your logs containing the word "error"?

This is awesome. I followed your simple instructions here and discovered a "Error on line #529"......opened the .ini file and found line #529, deleted it, saved the file....hit the PS shortcut and it started as per normal.
Thanks a heap

I have had this problem for a long time now, first on windows 10 and now still a problem on windows11. I cannot play ps half the time because it won't even connect.... I have noticed when you check connections it says the western US is a poor connection, also I do have the exe. file and sometimes I have to reinstall ps and start over to even get it to open at all!

I had this problem the last half day before the latest update worked properly some minutes ago, however.
Now, the view to tournaments looks like a mess of tickets instead, only two at the screen at the same time, whereas the old nice list of tournaments shows about 20 at the same time, one per small line.
Do you know if there is an option to get the old list view back?
