Is PokerStars amending the graphics engine?


Bear with me - I have been checking and rechecking the site since the shutdown. I have been able to open the lobby with various results, which has led me to uninstall and reinstall many times.

Each time I got to a fuller lobby, I checked tables in play and found the graphics improved. They were similar to the online pros playing with compatible software to the Aurora engine.

The first time I could amend the tables to my preference appearances wise...but I wanted to double check so logged in and out. I then found the improved graphics but my table preferences would not take. On top of this, a Christmas themes table was all that could be displayed.

Is anyone else experiencing similar issues? Are they amending the graphics? The one thing I also noticed is my account balance does not yet show....

Okay, just triple checked (after another uninstall and then reinstall) Back to new graphics and the ability to amend to my preference regarding appearance.

Is anyone else experiencing an improvement with some wobbly issues? Do you think this will stick?

Just thought I would try for a response one more time as we all ragged on PS for leaving us no option but for the Aurora graphics engine.

Three days later and I still have the improved graphics. I have multi-checked many times, uninstalled and re-installed. The only problem encountered is twice the download did not quite take and I got a Christmas themed table graphic. Then reinstalled and got the vastly improved graphics and all appearance options on tap.

Am I the only one who can access the improved graphics?

I play on a tablet, from the updated apk some disappointments. Graphics, loading speed, table switching speed, constant App errors, playing three tables at the same time is suffering.

I don't like their graphics just because they put a lot of stress on my graphics card. This is noticeable by the braking and the change of the picture on my desk. Perhaps my video card is already old for such graphics. It came to me to remove from the table everything that is superfluous and does not concern the game.

Yeah, my point is PS used to run flawlessly until the Aurora upgrade was forced on everyone - then my laptops graphics degraded and I had to switch off all to lowest function level. It looked dreadful.

After the shutdown this past weekend, my graphics have reverted back to pre Aurora levels - clear and vibrant....and I am a lot happier.

I just uninstalled/reinstalled and wow I noticed I can now choose between the classic and the aurora theme!

I reaaally love the classic graphics, and now I'm excited to be playing on PS again.

The new aurora bloatware not only looked terrible, but also it also stressed my new laptop which has an i5-10400 and Nvidia 1650Ti. When I launched aurora graphics, the fan started sounding like a jet engine.

Chose to switch to aurora to see if there was any improvement, but didn't notice any. Went to switch back to the classic but the option was gone.
Reinstalled once, aurora was the default grahpics. Selected the classic graphics, re-lauched the client, still aurora, and the option to switch to the classic gone.
Reinstalled twice, classic engine was the default. Relaunched the client. The classic engine gone, option to switch gone, had switched to aurora.

My guess is that they have not properly patched the stub (the small piece of software used for the installation).
Another possibility is that the client checks if the machine can "handle" the new aurora engine, and if yes, it automatically switches to it and it disables the possibility to switch back to the classic engine.

Got me excited for a moment :/ Now it looks like I have to reinstall the client each time I want to play with the classic engine.
Let us the the classic theme MFs! We know it's still there and fully operational.

Edit 2: At least the least the trick of deleting the insides of the ImgCache folder is working again for bringing back the Classic grahpics.
I'm wondering how that actually works. Is this Aurora engine just some bloatware on top of the old Classic engine? If it was completely brand new, I don't see how the Classic graphics wouldn't be completely gone.

Yes, as noted, there are some issues cropping up- it took me about 7 uninstalls and reinstalls to sort out what works for me (some downloads appeared incomplete). Twice I got the idiotic Christmas themed table, with no ability to change it to a normal table - which is ironically what happened exactly 12 months ago. However, even these graphics are improved over the full Aurora implementation.

But apart from that I have the prior graphics working fine... I will confirm whether they degrade or not in the future, but for now all is good. And by the by, as long as I leave PS 'open' on my computer, their auto log out does not seem to affect anything. I just log back in and am good to go.

pokerstars suddenly shut down for another maintenance period today and I anticipated the possibility the graphics would degrade again. They have not, still the classic pre-Aurora graphics.

Under Table Graphics I have the option to enable Aurora...obviously am not opting for it.

I feel committed to this saga. Its a farce. From now on I’ll shorten uninstall and re-install to U+R.

Go to log in to PokerStars to be told there is an upgrade.

After the upgrade the frickin’ Christmas table display. When I go to table appearance, even though my preferences show in the display, they cannot be applied. Additionally in that display the graphics look to have reverted back to Aurora.

U+R, Christmas table and no ability to implement changes.

U+R, the lobby shows up all black with no games displayed. I subsequently miss the free roll as I have to U+R yet again.

This time the lobby shows correctly but we are back to the Christmas table theme and no ability to change appearance. And yes, even though the display actually shows my preferences they are definitely the loathsome Aurora graphics. I guess I’ll settle for the Christmas table because at least the themed table is in the non-Aurora graphics.

Staggers the imagination.

I am stuck with the Christmas Tree table as I believe others are...will play on it later but seems like no option but to accept Aurora once again, sigh.

This new graphic engine , it really frustrates me , not being able to switch to how the things used to be . Annoying them and engine , I hope they make changes or take it out of the system .
