Greetings!

Really nice forum, I've seen many posts come up in various searches with useful info - thanks for that.

Yesterday while playing on PS - while in the middle of a hand someone else takes full control of my game and was playing my hands! It was being controlled by someone else, remotely! WTF. I couldn't stop them from betting/folding.

To make things worse, the person controlling the actions was forcing me all in every hand or just min betting every street or otherwise causing me to lose.

It was kind of intermittent with control returning to me randomly. After a few hands of this I was ready to reformat the entire drive and uninstall everything.

It left me with a nauseating feeling. I don't know if I should even log back in there. It doesn't feel safe to play with this happening.

Has anyone heard of something like this happening? Do you think it's some kind of hidden malware/virus? Someone hacking the PS site?
Any advice on how to deal with this would be greatly appreciated.

Update: It's just the play money version: Last update seems to have fixed it. I had stopped updating it a while back.

In my opinion it looks like a software malfunction connected with slow internet.
The application may have rendered buttons too slow. I suggest to ask PS support, give them what happened with all details of your Operation System and so on.

Hacking PS site -no.

In case of hacking your PS account you would be logged out of the game, then -no.

How to check if someone remotely accessing your PC ? There are few ways to do it, one is to watch the mouse movements.
There is only one mouse and one mouse control, so it can be moved only by one person at the same time. When someone do it remotely your mouse pointer is moving without your action, but that means around any application not only PS.
If ( after cleaning the mouse bottom) it looks like the case I suggest to install an anti-virus, if it is Windows, start with Windows Defender, then free Avast or AVG.

It being the play money version and whether updated or not should make no difference.

The play money version is within the same program/platform and if anyone experiences what you've described it would be a bad sign.

You'd need to scan your hard disk for Trojans and the suchlike and would probably have to reformat.

Assuming someone hadn't actually been given remote access somehow or other.

You probably gave someone else access to your computer. Maybe you visited a scam site in the past.
You need to scan your harddrive for viruses/malicious software, or even better reformat your drive and install everything from scratch.

I think it was a security breach/hack. I never have willingly given anyone remote access. I definitely don't blame Stars.
I've done my best to improve the security on here/remove potential malware. Hopefully I'm not missing any hidden back doors or anything!
I can only play with real $$ on 888 since Stars is unavailable in my region. I go on there for practice.
Thanks a lot for the input. The problem has yet to reoccur.

Imagine you are alone and someone controls your actions. I will be scared and run to my bed and hide under the blanket. Hope it is okay now.

Something like this has never happened to me, but I understand your discomfort, I think you should report this immediately to the administrators of pokerstars, if it happens once it will continue to happen more times, you have to check well if they have only hack your poker account or hack your computer in general and with it, all the accounts you manage in it. If necessary, you would have to format your computer and re-download all the programs that you handle in a more secure way. Regards.

You we're probably hacked, did you notice anything unsual in other poker rooms too? If not maybe someone had access to your stars username and password only. This already happened to me on party poker, someone logged in to my account and played with my money. :(

looks like those hackers like to fool arround with play money. weird story to be honest, i mean if someone hacks you, one would think they would wait for something better than push allin every hand when you are playing with playmoney no? weird weird...

Personally I would have immediately taken my PC offline.

Changed my PS account password enabled 2fa if available, from a different PC or my phone.

Then reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled the OS from a clean installation (not using the MS reset option). But a USB stick installation.

There are plenty of issues that even the best firewalls/antivirus programs will not find, and while its possible this was a software glitch on PS, I would never be comfortable using my PC after experiencing that, without a complete wipe of the HD and re-install.

What it comes down to is piece of mind, and given your description that is how I would feel comfortable using that PC again.

I'd also change pretty much all of my passwords if any are saved in some form on the PC.
