I was permanently banned over a stupid joke I made. If it was cheating or whatever fine but a joke? Anyway I’m moving houses soon would me using a new address, email and my other bank account be able to be picked up as me? Or can I start a brand new identity on poker stars? My first and last name is very common so I have no idea how they would catch me. What do you guys think?

1. I can't see being banned over a bad joke, I will file this over more to the story than you want to let on.
2. Why would you want to? If you ever won any substantial amount of money and they found out, it would not end well for you.

First off, not a great idea putting your plan of action in a public forum. That must have been a hell of an inappropriate "joke" to get banned. For a chat problem that can be quite serious they will remove your chat first.

You could possibly get away with playing - but you would never be able to withdraw so no point.

Just find another site and be smarter this time.

as far as I know they will not block you because of jokes.
I think the matter is different about what you do not want to talk about, for example in multi-accounts.
This is a huge platform. and they will not block just like that. I recently talked to the PS security service and I'm fine. because I do not break the rules

I do not think your name is important but more your ip but I do not advise you to change it or try to break the rules because it could be very harmful for you. At worst if you really want to stay on poker star address an email to the staff with excuses to try to save the shot. Personally I did not know that we could be ban for a joke.

So your name is John Smith. I'm sure poker stars will allow you to create another account. They will allow you to deposit. They will allow you to play and lose. They will freeze your account if you win and try to withdrawal. They will investigate and ask for documents, who you have relationships with on stars, any trainings? Once they take you through this process they will suspend your account, seize all funds, state its in their terms and conditions, all decisions are final. End of story.

ps may not agree that it was a 'stupid joke' when they put a permanent ban.
nice thread with too many unknown details.
but agree:
- probably can get back into ps
- until ps finds the 'duplicate of a banned id'

Um, So what's the Joke as I'm dying to hear! Also, when you made the (Said Joke), exactly how so did you make It? What I mean Is, did you make (Said Joke), @ a Friends house, (Face to Face with said friend), and he somehow sent said Joke from your Email to Stars Customer support, Or did you make (Said Joke) @ the Stars Tables or something of that Nature? Anywho, I'm dying to hear this (Prema Ban Joke), so do share the details.

For those of you wondering I joked at a table that I had a gambling addiction and that when I’m not feeding my gambling addiction I’m spending my money on coke and hookers. I pretty much got banned because pokerstars has a responsible gaming policy that perma bans players that have an gambling problems.

I don’t have a gambling problem I only play poker for an hour or two a day but I guess they don’t care.

At first I thought you were referring to a chat ban. But for them to ban your account over a joke seems excessive, especially if you explained that to them. Also if you are not losing a lot of money or playing a crazy amount of hours, it seems they should be able reverse their decision.
As others have said, DO NOT get a new account because they will refuse cashouts and will ban the account.
I would try to politely email them a few more times to see if they can review your situation more closely. Good luck.

Interesting as that's a first TBH (Not speaking sarcastically), but this would seem as a relatively easy thing to actually correct, If you really were In-Fact joking (As to why you'd make such a Joke to a random Joe Is beyond me:confused:), but bottom line, Is you can actually In-Fact explain the situation to stars, rather easily, as you weren't "Colluding/Being Racist and/or Cheating In a sense overall), and these things are the things "Stars" cares about.

Also (FYI), you can easily prove you don't have a "Gambling addiction/problem", by simply having the Stars staff pull up your old account activity and that would go to show "How often you played on there, and for how many hours a day, and how much you deposited, How frequently you deposit on there, the levels you play @" and so forth and so on, and adding all those factors together would (Than be able to prove/disprove) the accusations against you, Hope that helped:)

Unfortunately explaining won’t work I’ve already sent four emails and this was their final reply:

Please note that in accordance with PokerStars responsible gaming policy, it will not be reopened under any circumstances. In addition, please note that you will not be allowed to create another account at any point in the future.
We wish you the best in your future endeavors.”

Then, could It possibly be that you do Indeed do have an Issue and Stars didn't want the Liability factor for allowing you to gamble on their platform/Site. I really have no clue If such a thing Is even possible, but damn that sucks 4 sure

I Can't Get Myself to Take a Break From Poker!

For the past 6 months I have been playing 17 hours a day from the time I wake up to the time I fall asleep I haven't showered in two weeks and I have barely left the house except to buy cigs and I run to the store and back because the thoughts of winning a big hand run through my mind I think about poker all the time. The real problem is the money I have maxed out my over draft and my credit card is almost maxed I have to pay some of it off by the 8th and I do have the funds to do it but I don't know if I can keep myself away from the tables so I don't blow it all! How do I get pry myself away from it? At first it was a fun 30 minutes a day kill some time deal, now it's completely taken over my life. I've stopped talking to my friends and have been asking my parents to loan me money I owe them 5k so far. I don't know what to do anymore everything is crumbling around me...

Expect complications when/if cashing out. Try it with the minimum amount before winning about $700,000 or $40,000 like guys on news or on 2+2.

not just jokes, insults can get you booted too..

Every site, sponsor has their rules. My example: had bad beat, chatted insult, "donkey luck", something like that. Got a warning. I was lucky. found out not chatting has a lot more upside than chatting, telling bad or insulting jokes.
Consider the risk/reward: why ever put out the chat equivalent of 2 3, off, when you can have appropriate chat, or no chat at all?
If chatting is that rewarding for you, perhaps a chat room is more appropos to you than a poker room. Hopefully you will gain something out this experience.

All joking aside, it was not a joke at all. Sounds like PS is doing you a favor but as with any addiction there's another dealer on the next corner.

Ultimately you screwed yourself. PokerStars is doing what it can to be completely Legit and has no option but to take this seriously; Whether a joke or not.

I'd suggest joining a different site (as suggested above) and turn off chat from the settings area (assuming all sites have this option).
