Party Poker to Enforce Player Alias Change and Prevent 3rd Party Tracking Tools

partypoker will be requiring all players to select new player names (aliases) as part of their software update on June 17th.

It will start at 09:00 BST (10:00 CET) on June 17, 2019, and players will be presented with a pop-up window prompting them to select a new alias.

They want to provide members with a safe environment to play online poker.

They will also be making changes to their software that will prevent third-party tracking tools from working. They want their players to have a fresh start and therefore are asking all players to select a new alias so that all third-party tool tracking is lost for all our players.

To mark the update, partypoker is hosting a $500K ‘Race to Alias’ giveaway for all dotcom players (excluding those in Czech Republic and Sweden), running for 24 hours on June 17th.

Open to real money accounts only, the promotion is split into three separate strands. ‘Login Click Cards’ will award random prizes worth up to $10,000 in cash to players after choosing their new alias, while the site will also give away between $10,000 and $40,000 in ‘Hourly Click Cards’ for earning at least 0.10 in loyalty points per hour. In addition, ‘$10K Freerolls’ are scheduled to run exclusively for players who earn qualifying tickets via either the ‘Login’ or ‘Hourly’ Click Card offers.

Overall, the promotion is set to pay out over $500,000 in free prizes for those who choose their new player name within the allotted 24-hour promotional window.

partypoker can teach pokerstars couple of very good lessons including this new one.

p.s. they can also tell PokerStars that there is no need to place $ (dollar) sign infront of the chips in SnGs, MTTs and even freerolls. Head spins when I have that million dollar stack deep in the $1.1 PS tourney while it's just a 25bb stack.

Funnily enough, I often wonder how it works with Russian players, with VPN etc, to gain access to some sites, where they are not allowed to legally play, but often do? Couldn't you US players do the same or do you and just don't advertise the fact?

If you want to keep your name, try adding a dash to the end or a symbol. Technically, you will be changing the username but you will still be recognizable to whoever you want to recognize you.

Finaly they want to have good poker room, without bots, huds etc. Im allin with that solution. PokerStars should do that too, few years ago, cause i have that feeling there everyone are seeing my cards.

The problem with that is, it's against the TOC of any site, because you would have to provide false info for your account (address, etc.). And then, if you want to withdraw, you can bet your deposit bonus they'll find out and freeze your account along with your funds too. I'm sure some people probably do it, but it's just a matter of time before they're found out.

party poker tries to rise again, but I think that their promotions are poor and they are expensive for recreational players

A rumor has been circulating over the last few days that PP is about to ban all HUD/tracking and support software across the entire site.

To add to those rumors, I have today seen a PP rep's response to the question of "Is that true that PP will ban HUDs in June?", to which they responded "We will be making further ecology changes - yes. More news to follow soon".

Seems there's a high chance the rumors have some merit and that very soon PP will update its software policy restricting the use of HUD's and associated software.

What do you all think, will this happen and if so, what are your thoughts on the effects of such a decision?
