Hello friends. What do you think about the latest pokerstars update where you can throw items at opponents at the tables? I personally don't like it :frown:

Dr Dentistry

I am in total agreement with you. I was playing a tourney last night at stars. Upon joining the table 3 mins after it started, having pre registered (silly me) someone I recognise jovially sent a rocket to me. I smiled and thanked them. Throughout the rest of the game, at almost every hand, someone was sending rockets, tissue boxes and horse shoes at other people like they were in a food fight!

I always thought of Pokerstars as a professional site where the focus was poker. Call me traditional and tell me it hasn't been that for a long time, but I think this gimmick of throwing objects loses that something that stars had and drops it to the realms of fun sites that really get my goat!

Take it away!

Thankfully, you can disable them. Just set

Settings > Table Appearance > Animation > Table Emotes > Disabled

this certainly increases the psychological aspect, psychological pressure, and high content of psychological concentration!

I think this will remove a little bad recordings from the chat and give players the opportunity to express their attitude towards the opponent without violating the decency of communication.

If only ACR had this, I'd like to throw some stuff at people sometimes.

Haha that's so stupid.
It reminds me of Zynga Poker on Facebook which was just for play money.
These things don't belong in real money games.

I don't understand why such things are necessary. It's more like a circus.

I like them, but then I play for fun.

But if I played professionally then I wouldn't mind - if it increases the enjoyment for recs, and recs play more as a result, everybody wins.

I haven't encountered such items yet.And they don't really fit me either. Why turn the game into a Circus I do not understand. This is my personal opinion.

Personally I find them really annoying.

I always thought that PokerStars was a 'professional' poker site. I have played at 888 and besides the graphics are really low, the thing that upset me the more was that stupid thing of throwables.

I don't think they are good for the game. At least not in real money games.

I think Pokerstars is just following the market downwards. Don't get me wrong I do like throwing eggs in 888 but like others I feel PS is cheapening it's product. It's not the first time, their rewards programme used to be good but now they've moved to the rubbish chest idea because they know people will chase that and give them more money. I make a point of not playing to collect chests because it's a race to the bottom bankroll wise.

I see where you are coming from, but ultimately poker is a game, even if it is a profession for some. So for me it's logical that making the experience enjoyable is their primary goal. Although the idea of throwing objects seems absurd when we think of face to face poker, it's just a way of trying to add some sense of banter between players that doesn't involve typing on the chat.

It's lightened up our home games, although I think it'll get old eventually.
