HOW do they offer big guarantee events if they dont have half of that amount in entries?

i did some math and 1 tourney was 20,000 but there was only 12,000 in entry fees.

Overlays are obviously not sustainable, and when they happen, poker sites will typically adjust the guaranty. Did you count the re-entrys as well? They can sometimes make up 30+% of the price pool.
