Disconnection issues

Situation: You are chip leader at the final table of a tournament with 7 players remaining. The tournament hangs, freezes and does not allow you to continue playing. You go out and go back in to see if it reactivates, it doesn't work. You quickly contact an online representative who does not solve the problem, and he tells you that they will contact you by mail. You speak to support by email and they tell you that there is no compensation because you continued playing according to their "specialized department" and that the money from the fourth position you left was added to your account. You tell him that it is impossible, that they show you how you continued playing. They tell you that you can look at your hand history. You go to the hand history, you look at it, and you tell them that you want a review from their "specialized department" because it clearly looks like you fold KK, AK, JJ preflop, so it doesn't make sense, you offer to send video. They then recognize that you were disconnected all the time, and give you advice on what to do if you lose your internet connection. You tell them that you did not lose your internet connection at any time, and that the proof of this is that you were chatting with online help, and you pass screenshots of that chat. You even tell them that the software they have has recurring bugs of different types already reported. They ignore your arguments and keep telling you what to do if you disconnect, and that since other players could continue playing they do not compensate you in any way.

Now, you're learning what Party Poker is all about.

They have been around for years, and for years, they have had nothing but technical problems.

So many, in fact, that they have set up "special" rules, for technical problems.

This is not just a recent problem.....It's been a problem all along with them.

They've had tournaments that freeze, and instead of giving you any notice of what's going on, they just leave you there, and you dare not leave, one of the reasons being what happened to you.

I've told them, many, many times, that they need to scrap their whole technical crew, and replace them with people that know how to run software, and quickly fix glitches.

I've been with Party Poker for many years, and nothing has changed. They act in an arbitrary manner, and are not transparent.

I will not put any more money into Party Poker, but I will play freerolls.

They are not worth the trouble, nor my business.

DO NOT PLAY IN PARTY POKER

Totally understand you. 1-2 years ago, when played more on WPN, I thought that's the worst by this "disconnection" things and random crashes. Nowadays, I see, the same happening on Party, too. Just in last month 2 crashes, last one on last Sunday...
At least, Party has live support - what anyway i still don't get why Ladbrokes reps are there (and they don't say anything about the reason straight forward, why... even when i asked),
not like WPN. Which shamelessly put out "live chat", but it is just email option...

Other side: even it happens sometimes - i don't get so frustrated because of that. Get used to it on WPN after every update + anytime randomly, so monthly 1-3 times, at least. And when random disconnections happened, and the blinds ate my stack, they didnt compensate me at all there either...(They asked me provide proof, but i couldn't even log back in the client...and of course, everything in email, as no live chat, so couldn't even proof my net connection is just fine.) So it is not a party spec event. Both don't say anything about the real reasons. You should check their twitter accounts in crash times, i have de ja vue, or like the same soc media policy, employee works for both room...

But Party has a good refund policy, when it happens, they count on pretty correctly your actual stack size, at least, something.

I had like this on Chico, too. Even i heard from others, but it didn't happen with GG yet - true, i don't play there so long, so often.

Probably, just matter of time, doesn't matter which room you are regularly playing...

party has a bad refund policy, in my case it was null. They only paid me fourth place, because I finished there. I played a lot of time in pokerstars, there I never had problems, but I got tired of losing so I wanted to change casino. It seems that I am not the only one who has problems with party.

A situation like this obviously suck. However the beneficiaries of someone being forced to sit out and fold every hand is not the poker site, its the other players. So I dont think, its reasonable to expect the poker site to pay monetary compensation to the sit-out player out of their own pocket.

When only a single player is disconnected and sitting out, while the tournament is still running, it will always be up for debate, if the fault is with the poker client or his own equipment. And in top of that how is the monetary compensation even supposed to be calculated? In this case OP took 4. place, and its impossible to know, how much better or worse he would have done, if he had been sitting in.

Still not saying, that this is great in any way, shape or form. But I think, any other poker site would have handled it the same way. So all, we can do, is to play on sites, where problems like this are rare, and then also make sure, we have the best possible internet connection and hardware ourselfes. If we play high stakes, maybe we should have a complete back-up system available just in case.
