Tell me about your positive/negative experiences with ClubWPT...

For me, it has been all negative. I have never, ever, seen so many donkeys/chasers in all my poker playing days (I have played the game online/offline for well close to a decade.).

If I get a straight, they chase stupidly to the river and snag a flush. If I have a set off the flop, they chase ridiculously to the river and kill me with a straight or worse.

Please don't say "it's just a streak of bad luck" or whatever such nonsense. I have heard it all, and quite frankly, nothing accurately explains the sheer ridiculousness of ClubWPT.

Digajam,

I too, have faced the same problem. It is not "bad luck" or some other such nonsense. It is an over-riding problem called "chasers/donkeys/bingo players". I also, have been playing poker for many years online/offline, and have never seen the sheer stupidity that ClubWPT's supposed "rng" seems to operate on.

They advertise it everytime they show WPT shows on tv, and it is utter trash.

My beef is that most players use up every second of time as if they just left the table. One guy hit the 90 second time button and then folded after 5 seconds. hands take far too long to play. Then there are the ones who sit out immediately and then just let the game run out while they do something else. And yes, there are the chasers who do so because there is nothing at stake. Better off playing on a cash site.

Recently been trying out Club WPT, mainly because I'm considering the benefit of chances to win entries to WPT events.

But the stuff described in this thread sounds like my experience on wsop, pokerstars, Bovada, etc. The excessive time banking, the goofy calls and all ins, the absurd suckouts (ever lose KK vs KK all in pre flop in a 3/4 million dollar online prize pool tourney to get KO'd?), etc etc.

You want time banking or delaying down to last second of time to call, play on Stars or Bovada or WSOP.

Happens on all sites, variance is huge. Bigger than many expect, myself included. It's quite a wild ride.

As for my recent experience playing on the side on ClubWPT, the software is dated, the player pool seems soft, but for the price I'd consider paying a fixed monthly fee to enter chances to go play a WPT live major and along the way some other prizes with no risk other than $149 a month.

Let us know how it goes with the diamond plan. Always wondered if it was worthwhile.

Eh less than the cost of one entry of the weekly Bovada specials I play few times a month. Or 3-5 buy ins or so of the more regularly weeklies i play on other sites. So I figure it's costing me less than 1 Bovada buy in a month I guess.

Let us know how it goes with the diamond plan. Always wondered if it was worthwhile.
We shall see, going to play some of their Diamond qualifiers over weekend and a few upcoming weekends.

I have been playing there ever since I moved to AZ five years ago. I find the quality of competition about what you should expect for tournaments with 2000+ players. AS for membership levels I am playing the $27/month level currently. Over the years I have won it 4 times with fields of 1880 to 3200. I won $150 twice and $200 and $300 in those. When the Diamond level started in June of 2020 at $150 I played for about 18 months at that level.
My observations are:
1) In their nightly 1K tournament with around 2000 players the money bubble is with 80 players left and it is $5 until it increases to $10 for 20th place. So it is tough to win money on a regular basis when you have to make the top 4% to win $5 and the top 1% to win more.

2) Their $27 /month level has a 1k tournament every weekday night and on weekends these are usually 1.5 K and 2K.

3) At the $150/month level there are a lot more daily and weekend tournaments with bigger prize pools. They also have slightly smaller fields but it still is hard to cash since I found the skill level to be higher. They also have qualifying tournaments to future freerolls and entries into future tournaments for entries into big WPT events. I qualified for a 100K Championship tournament the first year and finished 4th for $4K.

4)I think it is a good value IF you play all the Diamond Tournaments but expect it to play 6 or more hours a day. They have a big money tournament every day and a qualifier tournament to some future event or a $500 PLO or PLO H/L. This is in addition to the daily 1K tournaments. If you play the 3 or 4 big ones everyday you will be multi tabling the majority of the time unless you get knocked out. The payout structure is not as steep and is more generous so the odds of making money is better.

5)I am planning to upgrade to Diamond next month, 6 hours every night and 8 hours on the weekends.

Those are my experiences and observations and if anyone wants more info then just ask me.

I have been playing at the diamond level on a 14 day free trail. I have cashed already earning $20 in a winner taker all turbo (the blinds go up fast). What the OP said about players chasing one outers and hitting has driven me to the verge of rage quitting on numerous occasions. The only reason i didn't was I want that check in my hand first. My last bust out i went all in on the flop with a semi bluff, I had top pair but nothing to match the 3 spades on the board. A player called me with 9 3 off suit, top pair held to the river when the board 4 flushed and his 3 of spades won. I might make that call if i were holding the Ace but the 3? Seriously? The player didn't even have bottom pair. I am considering the Diamond level as with a little more invested maybe the players won't be as willing to just roll the dice on any hand. It can and often does work to your advantage when they try that silly stuff and you know you have the best hand possible but it still drives me crazy when i get out lucked and not out played. Bad beats do happen, I once hit the steel wheel to topple quad queens in live 5_10_15 poker, It was like Vanessa Rousso said "Sometimes you just know, you know." the other player nearly bust a gasket and i now know his pain but he calmed down quickly when the pit boss said that hand had qualified for the casinos bad beat pool and we both walked away with more cash that that pot was worth. I would suggest the bad beat pool to Club WPT but then players would be looking to hit that and making even worse decisions.

I laugh when I see people complaining about getting sucked out on by some donkey/idiot calling them with trash and winning. Poker is a game of 7 cards, IT IS NOT, my 2 cards are better than your 2 cards. Your 2 cards mean little when all 5 board cards are tabled. So don't let your expectations for your two cards get ahead of reality. So learn some math odds and accept the fact that your AA will lose to any random hand 15% of the time and IF you are stupid enough to try and be tricky with AA and limp behind 4 limpers, don't complain when you lose because you are already behind. Besides, complaining about other's play makes you look like a whiner, you must realize not everyone is as good as you and have attained your level of skill and perfection.

This was my first hand on the WPT platform. LOL

Wpt1

Well... not much to say.
Despite the short time on the platform, I agree to say that the field is very weak.
Lots of Japanese players making poker fads. Just wait for good hands and wait for their crazy all-ins.
As for the beats... normal... an 'RNG' rubbish like all the others... Aces lose often and lots of 'bad beats' for any two cards.

I couldn't have played more than 15 tournaments on it and I could 'win' or at least have a decent run. Some hits to the beam by these magic cards, but too early to draw conclusions.

Agree with the above post. If a site gives you negative vibes, don't play there.

I have a question, a challenge really, to all of you who are trashing ClubWPT. What online sites do you play that are fair and where no one ever loses on the river? I am just curious if there is one?

I like WPT Poker, I don't play there regulary because I only play with freeroll money there and they don't have much options of freerolls. Yes, there a lot of donks, but in my opinion this is good. Yes, I've had many bad beats, but this also happens in another rooms. But when I have a strong hand, most of the times someone will call, many times more than one player. Also, the cashouts are fast, which is essential to me.

I have read all your posts and have concluded that : 1) you reek of a sense of entitlement because your two cards are better, 2) Since you say WPT is the worst site , then name other sites that you have played that YOU THINK are better and fairer, I personally want to check them out. 3 .you reveal how little knowledge you have about the game when you cite single table examples as proof. One can never start drawing conclusions until they have at least a 100,000 hand sample, and that is the minimum size sample. 4. How many years one has played is NO indication of experience . 20 years of once a week home games and one night a month at a casino is no comparison in the amount of hands played to a person playing 4-6 hours a day online for a year.
5) unless you study the game and learn more about the math of the game and change your attitude and outlook, you will NEVER enjoy the game and will always be the guy complaining about the bad play of others and how bad the site is.

How about you answer my question instead of just stating your opinion without providing evidence. Unless you have sat and watched at least 100K hands , you observation data is too small to draw conclusions from. Lacking that evidence you need to find a fair site and play on it, but just sitting here whining about WPT, or any other site , makes you look like a sore loser, just sayin.
