Hey,
I've seen a few of the newer sites offer their rakeback in a structure where it will "Drop" cash on to the table and add it to the pot before cards are dealt for players to then play for once their cards are then dealt.
I have to be honest I don't really see the allure in this kind of payback structure. I understand it makes for bigger pots and I've seen some clips from sites like Run It Once that has a 1000BB cash drop but then everyone just goes all in and it turns out to be a lottery ticket situation with good value added.
I can understand the benefit of this significantly more from the side of the poker client as it provides massive pots that generate more rake so it's almost an automatic rebate but I'm interested in hearing why players like this structure.
Do you think this benefits the good or bad players more? Initially I thought it might be a way to even out rake repayments and maybe make weaker players feel good about winning a larger pot then normal due to the cash splash but wouldn't more of the value added hands go to the better players anyway? Especially the smaller ones that aren't just everyone shoving.
I feel like I might like them more if I became more confident at my buy in level for the reasons stated above but for now they just seem like a cheap way to pay out rake for the poker client.
Your thoughts are much appreciated
