Has anyone noticed that a lot of the guarantees on ACR have not been being reached for quite some time now? Pretty much every tourney I play there has an overlay(I generally play in the $5-$50 range). It has been like this for months now. Should this be cause for concern? I know they make money on cash games too, but are they really making enough in cash games to give away all this free money in the tournaments? Is anyone else out there concerned about this?

Hi Nuts2727. I have always been concerned about that same thing. I like playing in the one's that cover the GTD. GL

As a player there is absolutely nothing to not like about overlays. So if you find MTTs with overlays, then by all means play them. If you are concerned about the financial stability of a certain poker site, then only keep sitting there, what you need for playing 2-3 days, and deposit more if needed. There is no reason to be shy about hitting the "withdraw" and "deposit" button a few times, especially if its for some reasonable amount like 500$ or more.

Acr uses a monkey and a dartboard to set their tournament schedule. It's not a very smart monkey ether.

Yeah ive noticed same thing. Really not a single mtt i played last few months that had enough players for the prize pool.
Also some tournamets have the same the prize pool for micro level and low level, but buy in is like 5 times higher. Whats up with that.

Everyone noticed, so ACR too. it is like a promotion, most of the overlay tourneys are very good for bringing new players, customers. I think - both from my side and company - they do it good, anyway. I take attention to the field, and there are just a small regular field on these tourneys, plenty newbie are there. And it is only on micro level, few low...

If you count it out, - you don't have to count the CG profit they make, if you want to dig in their pocket, so much - daily one 50K gtd tourney (those are never in overlay) covers all the micro overlays + the sng, on demand sng, where is obviously no overlay at all.... so they run 20-25 micro overlays in a day, and they run 1000+ higher level, no overlay tourneys, sngs, on demands.... (I don't count overlay, those where the gtd prize doesn't lift upper because of entrants, but it reached the gtd prize counting in the fees, there are few dozens more like that, it still earns money for them, just not the 10% fee, a bit less, like example the spec 15K gtd 11$, what is often under 1500 reg in the weekdays, but if you count it out with 1400 buyins, that gives you 15 400$, so they still earns 400$ on that, too... so on low level you find maybe 5-10 tourney max in a weekday, what really have 5-10% overlay....(only the 6K 6$ gtd has higher overlay, even that only on Mondays), on weekends, almost no overlay at all)

Strange, that you make a thread about it... very simple to count it out.... it costs max 1% of their daily profit (probably much less), looking at only the tourney, sng, on demand section.... very good for promotion, playing them, too... and you won't get rich from these micros....

Oh, and it is like this from the last summer, they change the schedule sometimes, but not significantly, when they've started it was 20% more tourneys like that compare to nowadays... (last summer were really good overlays, when they began this, but they made it reasonable level within 1-1,5 months) and they mentioned in their weeky, daily show few months ago, they are not planning to cut it back, maybe extend, if they can pick up more players in the next few years (it was 2 or 3 exactly, don't remember.)

And about CG, just played for the beast ticket - that is around 350 players every week -, paid around 500$ rake, you can check the beast leaderboard, and approx. you can count it out how much they earn from cg, obviously they are like every other room, casino, they earn money, otherwise they wouldn't do it....

Again, it is a promotion, and you won't be a winning player, it won't makes you rich, as it is mostly on micros, where they giving away averagely 100-150 bucks on daily 20-25 tourneys... (few low, or 1 medium level tourney brings it back to them...)

Oops, i didn't see the buyin range... in the last month, played in that range, too, rarely found real overlays, few low level tourneys. (I don't count overlay, where the gtd prize doesnt lift, but counting in the fees, it has reached...)

I love the overlay. It keeps the payout a little higher for those who eek into the $. This is usually not a problem since the higher limits will pay more in fees and rake. Trust me, popular poker rooms aren't hurting for money. ;)
