I got this email from 888 today...

It doesn't sound good. I'm a bit confused about them saying my next wager would come from my cash balance before the bonus. Does that mean unless I have 0 cash that I can't use a bonus?

The second part about forfeiting free play, bonuses, tournament tickets and free spins if you make a withdrawal seems pretty harsh.

I know poker sites don't like people taking money out, but the goal of every player is to get a big enough bankroll so they will make a withdrawal at some point.

I'll be interested to see people's experiences with this new policy.

Yeah, it seems like if you have $1000 in your account and get a $1 bonus, you have to lose the $1000 to be able to play with the $1 bonus.

This is pretty ridiculous in my opinion. As you said it is the sites job to try and keep your money on their site, but I don't think its fair to take something back that has been earned due to a rewards system. Theoretically the money you win while playing is separate from whatever extra bonuses the poker room may be giving you. They are basically saying that they don't want to have winning players on their site (Who else is withdrawing? Winning players and people who are quitting lol)

I also received a similar email. I think this is the wrong decision. Why do I need a bonus at all?

Some sites already use that "cash balance first" method so clearly 888 isn't going to be the only doing that
Forfeiting certain things ... using that stuff before making withdrawal cant be too bad right cause in that case you may be able to withdrew even more
Still luckily/sadly this isn't going to bother me cause 888 never gives me free things lol :hmmmm2:

I find that confusing as well. If other sites have a similar policy already, then maybe someone can explain to us dummies, what it really mean :)

I never use any Bonus code or something or never opt for any Bonus.
888 says in its new mail that the cash will be utilized before the bonus.
The key thing is we can always turn that Bonus and its winnings into real money after playing enough and generating enough rake but it is true that 888 has strengthen its policy.

After thinking on it I may have figured the bonus part out.

Currently if you have, say, a $10 casino bonus when you make a wager it if you lose it is deducted from the bonus and if you win it is added to the bonus so if you get lucky you might run it up to several hundred dollars (which is why the put a $500 cap on bonus winnings), but you don't get any of it until you clear the original bonus balance.

If I'm right then the new way is that you must use real money to clear that $10 bonus so $10 is the maximum you can clear.

I'm not sure about this as I don't know how it works if you don't have a cash balance and the way 888 worded the email is as clear as mud.:p

"we are simplifying our terms and conditions."

this is a very funny way to say that in the future you have to loose all your deposit before being able to use bonus money and clearing bonuses. me i will for sure never ever make a deposit again there with any bonus code. i wonder what kind of uneducated people work there at 888 for making theses foolish decisions. no wonder they lost a lot of players.

It actually seems like a catch 22. If you have a bonus they make you use real money first, but if you withdraw your money so that your wagers are coming from the bonus then 888 can then say the bonus is forfeit because you made a withdrawal.

Pretty sneaky.

I also received this email yesterday. Their wording makes it sound like first you make a deposit before you will be able to use a bonus. I was not sure if they do not like me as I have only been playing free-rolls and the cash I have won I use to play cash games. If I am out before getting into the money hands I receive a email for a last chance special if I make I cash deposit. ( The money I have there is under $20.00.)
I do like playing at 888.

For people who always look for these types of bonuses, it's bad, but at least for me that I'm learning to play low value tournaments and I'm not looking for those bonuses, I'm not affected by those changes. It is just my opinion

Now I'm even more confused.

I just did the hand of the day challenge and my reward was a $5 bonus (good for poker and casino) so I decided to see how the new terms and conditions would affect it.
I did a $0.05 slot spin and $0.05 came off the bonus so I decided to double my bonus and got it to $10.45, so bonus $ was still used first.

I then decided to see how it was with poker, so I did a single round of $0.01/$0.02 SNAP and lost $0.07 and it came off the bonus again.

So I don't see any change. Maybe it only affect deposit bonuses and not earned bonuses?

Here's pics from when I got my bonus, then after I played the casino and then after I played a round of SNAP.
My cash balance never changed, just my bonus balance.

Ah, I just saw the 25 and thought it was this month. I guess we still have 3 months left under the old T and C's.:p

In my market it has always been like this at least with poker related bonuses. I assumed, it was also the case with casino bonuses, which 888 Poker gave me on the daily wheel sometimes, so I never even bothered to try to clear these.
