888 $1M WPTDS Main Event

Apologies if this should go into a different sub-forum.

I've just won a Freeroll ticket worth $27.50 to the WPTDeepStacks Main Event Satellite. The Satellite is to win one of ten $1050 "Main Event Day 1" tickets.

I doubt I have the slightest chance in hell of actually winning the Satellite, but it will be the most expensive Satellite or even Tournament I've ever been a part of by far. I've not done Satellites with a buy-in over $5.50 yet and while I've had some tournaments costing more than $27.50 they would have had a tiny fraction of the players compared to this I expect when all is said and done.

Still 'a chip and a chair' as I've always said, if I'm going to take part I'll give it my best. Has anyone got any advice?

PS I don't know what the "Main Event" even is. I'm guessing it goes over at least 2 days, so I'm assuming its pretty serious whatever it is, especially if it has a thousand dollar buy-in. In the extremely unlikely event I manage to win a thousand dollar ticket, how far would you have to progress to get past the bubble and actually win cash? I'm guessing if I could get that far the class of players I'd be against is in a different league to what I'm used to LOL.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you're interested, open up the sat that you are now registered to and read the announcement for it. I think the tickets that are up for grabs will be for any of the Day 1 deep stack $1M games, worth $1050 per ticket. But there are only 10 tickets up for grabs and already 90 players starting just from this freeroll already. There will probably be many more buying in directly to this satellite.

Just remember that you're playing the long game to be top 10, not to be #1.

Oh and if a player called puzzlefish is in the hand with you, just fold and save your chips.

There's 90 just from the satellite I placed in, but I see there's another satellite beforehand too for which the top 210 places are awarded. So that's 300 freeroll entries already for the 10 places before we even consider people who actually buy-in, or even re-buy.

Is there any point playing the second freeroll for one of the 210 places that are on offer later today? If you're already registered and you win a place again then is that place simply wasted, or do you get a cash substitute if you're already registered?

I don't believe they will let you register to the second freeroll since you are already in the target sat. The only way to get more entries will be to rebuy - there are three rebuys allowed. I'll be in there somewhere trying for the 10 seats, but honestly I was just playing the initial freeroll for fun so I am not expecting much. Good luck today!

Good luck guys well done nabbing a $27.50 ticket looks a tough challenge but a great game to satellite into from a freeroll.

Will try the freeroll route too 210 tickets is generous thousands of players are interested.

I think we will have 320-400 trying for the 10 seats. 300 will be from the freerolls.

Hope its going well for people. I've had a very dramatic first hour. Flopped the straight and tripled up as two others went all-in. Then had some very good flops I bet big on, which got called by chasers that hit their river repeatedly taking me back down to starting stack size.

Final hand of the hour had A9s on SB which I shoved on, BB had had AK but I hit my flush on the river.

Won't mind a quieter next half hour LOL.

EDIT: Got eliminated on the river in 68th spot.

I played one of these sats earlier tonight, got no chance. Really hard to beat so many players. You just need to get very lucky.

Looks like there will be another sat tomorrow, with the same two feeder freerolls into it. I'll give it another shot but not expecting anything.

Still trying to freeroll in got a seat for tomorrows $27.50 satellite in todays freeroll IGROKSASH got in too good luck.

Failure in the $27.50 satellite with kings preflop tried the $12 satellite too spent $24 forgot to add on at end woops one ticket really close but no cigar finishing second kings lost to a flush.

Satellites when only top 1 or top 3 get a ticket is not a lot of fun if you play them constantly and never win. Mentally tired of doing that so I prefer to just buy-in to the tournament if I can afford them.

With a few exceptions of course. pokerstars have som big satellites on Sunday for the $55 Big 20 main event. I will play all of them.
